file Seperation anxiety n baby being clingy

Hi Ladies I'm in that same boat too. My 11 month old gal follows me everywhere I go and she always wants to be next to me all the time. When I'm cooking she actually holds on to my clothes and nags me to lift her up.

It's even worse when we're out with friends, she won't let anybody touch her. She's always ready to smack them. She won't even go on the floor to play, she will cling to me like 2month old baby. :(

I'm tired of this behaviour and I'm even considering taking her to creche next year. She needs to let go a little :S

You get use to them being clingy.
When my daughter is not there I dont know what to do with myself - Then I am lost.

At least I dont have to carry her all the time - the walks behind me now which really helps.

Thx mums - at least i know its normal! Was beginning to think I spoilt her too much.

@Yaz - thats sounds a bit difficult... i mean we look forward to dads helping out with those things and imagine if baby wont allow them! It must be so tough.

@Chantal OMW - till 15 months! I was hoping it will end when she is 8 months longest. I feel like i wud not survive if this has to carry on for such a long time. How do u manage? I feel so bad when I go to the loo cos she just starts crying... n i wonder if it affects them in some way.

I know the feeling.

My daughter started at about 8 months and she's still clingy (at 15 months).
She plays with her dad for a bit but most of the time she wants me.

I cant even go to the loo alone

They say it gets better the older they get, but at 15 months I sometimes still wonder at what age does this stop, when do they become more independent.

She's happy to play by herself - as long as I sit in the same room as her - if I get up, she follows......

Hi Baby Shoes,

I'm also starting to experience the first signs of separation anxiety with my LG (she no longer takes the bottle from Daddy and he can't put her to sleep anymore, either). I read up on it and it is a perfectly normal milestone like Madeleine said. Here's a good link with some more info:

Hi, this is very normal. My Lg started having seperation anxiety at about 9 months. She still has it, but not as bad. She has recently become very clingy - and like you said...you can't do anything for yourself!!

All part of the wonderful joys of parenthood we have entered into!

hey all u wonderful mums out there.

need some more of ur advise - my beautiful 6 month old lg has suddenly become very clingy and will not allow me to leave her for a second. She used to be at peace playing on her own. For the past few weeks she started wanting to be held all the time. If i leave her sight she starts to cry. she wont allow anyone else to carry her. Even if i leave her on the floor to play she wants me to be with her.

I am getting very frustrated because I cant do anything for myself, let alone bath or make food. At nights she now wants to sleep in the bed with me as well whereas she has always been sleeping in her cot. As long as she is next to me she is fine.

What am i to do? any suggestions? is this temporary or will it this way for a long time?
