Although she was much older, Em had the same problem when she went off breastmilk. Dr also suggested Laxett, 5ml a day and it really helped. If I recall New borns can also use it.

Girly i been to the pead twice with the same issue when my son was younger. The pead always made me understand that it is not the formula (NAN) and the never allowed me to change, always just said it will get better.

For the constipation he gave laxette and within a period of 2 months the problem was resolved. i had to give 5ml everyday. I never changed the formula and still breastfeeding so i really dont know what causes the problem.

For the cramping i got buscopan and use dutch med(behoedmiddel) in 50ml water each morning after bath. i really dont know how long the cramping continue but when the poo issue was resolved so was the cramping.
the pead recommeds laxette because its glucose and will not cause any harm.

I've known a lot of babies to get constipated on S26 - its quite a rich formula. I've always used Nan or Infacare. Can mommy not breastfeed anymore? Even 1 feed of expressed breastmilk every day will help with the constipation. Try MagPhos tissue salts for the cramping

Hey ladies.
Posting on behalf of a friend.

Her baby is almost 3 weeks old, on S26 formula. She was also on expressed breastmilk for a while but milk drying up.

They struggle every night from 9pm-12am and sometimes from 12-3am with cramps and baby has gotten constipated since stopping breastfeeding.

What formula do you recommend they switch to that'll stop the crampin and constipation?

The few replies on facebook suggest novalac AC or IT.

Your thoughts and suggestions please?

They give buscopan & telament but thats not fixing the issue of why she's cramping, and buscopan has a side effect is constration. The poor girl pushes so hard to get a tiny amount out.
