My nanny is not a food person

she loves bread, tea, juice and fruit, so i always make sure they are available, and ohhh ice cream.

she's also not into sweet things like biscuits and chips, so i'm not worried about my son's stuff.

i treat her like my sister, why? she's so good, i've never had a single complaint about her.

well with my domestic I have the following guidelines :

breakfast is toast or cereal, lunch is leftovers (from the night before) or esle a sandwich, but if I decide to get McDonalds or fish & chips I get for her as well.
if she wants to make a tuna sandwich or egg on toast she asks if it is okay.

No food to leave the house, unless I have approved it (my previous domestic would eat the McDonalds etc and then take her allocated leftovers or sandwich home - not on).

Children's stuff is stored in containers clearly marked "Childrens Snacks / biscuits - DO NOT touch"

I wrote out a list of daily / weekly / monthly duties when she started, went thru them with her and made her sign that she understood them.

On that list I also stipulated that there was a tub of cream in the bathroom for her use (their hands take a lot of abuse with dishes and washing etc), she was to let me know when it was finished, but she was not allowed to touch of the other products.

Umm...what else was there - no loans, unless there is an emergency, how she would be paid, working hours.

What I did not make a note of was detergents - work out how much you would normally use over a month, add a bit and then let her know that she cannot go over that - I spend a FORTUNE on bleach, washing powder and sta soft - make sure she knows how many scoops your washing machine uses.

Also decide how you want to handle breakages - I have bought countless cups and glasses over the last - but understand that accidents happen.

My other issue with previous domestics was water usage - taps left running or rinsing dishes under running water will double your water bill - not to mention that in less than 10 years SA will have no drinkable water left if we carry on the way we are going.

thanks you don & jeda . my mother said i am the one to be blamed , she said i am too soft and takes time to tell time that i dont like this .

i dont argue with her because i know i treat them softly and never shout or tell them i dont like this.
i am happy that from now on i have learn and i will definetley set up rules and i will tell her this must last for one month , this is for the kids.

i am tired of this nanny this i cant wait until my first child is around 15 or so .

Kimber, that is ridiculous that she uses your cosmetics. It is a health hazard, never mind just plain wrong.

I would draw up a contract, month to month, detailing how things work in your house. It is YOUR house after all and you are the employer. You tell her what foods she is allowed to eat.

By the sounds of it, you can be glad your nanny dumped you! :-) Hope the new one is much better.
