I decided to use Domestic Angels because I was looking for agood domestic and child minder with experience and reputable references. My interview was booked with another client. I could not hear myself, so I ended up doing my interview outside. I chose a helper based on a very impressive CV and after speaking to her. The Help did not how to make a bed I had to show her. The Help did not know how to make a sandwich, I had to show her. The Help did not know how to use a feeding cup; my 13 year old had to show her. The Help used rinse aid to clean the windows with. The Help was clueless about the basic rules of cleaning a house and looking after a 2 year old. The Help did not even know how to change a diaper. The Help's CV states that she looked after twins at her previous employer and that she can do basic cooking and cleaning. I emailed my concerns to Elmien Holmes on the very same day and got a very useless response from her. So, I ended up paying a R2800.00 placement fee for a useless Help and non-service from Domestic Angels. After my experience, I would never ever use this company again, especially since I have kids and everyday we read and hear of horror stories...

Hi There -

Are you still looking for someone? I stay in Weltevrednpark, and my son is in a daycare called Little Lambs... and if you do not come right with a helper - I would certainly reccommend them to you, they only have 6 babies current with two minders and the owner Carol is the sweetest lady ever - my son is so happy there.

Bless you allxoxox have a good one

Hi

I would not use domestic angels, I got in touch with them last year to help me find a nanny and they were so unhelpful and inflexible.

I would never use them.

I used Edubabe in Randburg, I dealt with a lady called Tania and she was so helpful , I dont have her number, but if you search for edubabe, they list the various franchises in different areas.

they also include full Childminding training in thier placement fee.

She found us a wonderful nanny in about a week and she has been with us for 6 months now and I am very happy with her.

Good luck finding someone and going back to work :)

Hi,

We got our nanny/housekeeper from Domestic Angels and she is really an absolute angel! Elmien (the owner of Domestic Angels) is a very kind and sincere woman and I think she really chooses the candidates very well.

Also remember, the ladies that go through an agency like that, have a "reputation", as their references etc. are checked, so it is very unlikely that you would end up with a chancer... (my opinion).

Also, you can tell Elmien what you would like, so she filters her candidates and you interview the most suitable ones.

I am so grateful for our "Domestic Angel" and I know that she was sent to us from above.

It was worth every cent using Domestic Angels.

Good luck, I hope you find the perfect person for you.

I tried to post this under services & goods, but im not a gold member so I guess thats why it didnt appear :)

Im desparately looking for a full time [5 days a week] live out nanny/ domestic helper [or even 5 day half day]. I stay in northriding area, johannesburg and have a 4 month old baby. I go back to work full time [WAAAHHHH] on the 1 Feb and I would appreciate any ladies that you could refer who have experience in child care [as thats first priority, household cleaning is second to baby].

Alternatively, do you know of any reputable, amazing creches that you have personally used/ have close friends that use them?

Pls would you send me contact details of any people that you know of...

We are also considering www.domesticangels.co.za but DH is very skeptical about them still...

HELP :-( I cant bear the thought of leaving my LO with someone other than me...
