O Leandre, I was feeling so excited reading your post, Jude is 10 months old, until you said he plays in his cot for an hour and then calls you. I need him to sleep for that hour you see, else I need to make him sleep anyway.. Or do you mean in the morning, sorry having a weird moment here. How did you get him to LYE down for naps with the skilled Oscar? Jude will only stand or sit, NEVER lye down.
Do you just leave him at first until he lies down by himself??

Hang in there Moomies ;) It'll get better if your perservere

I had a tough time for the first week, as DH would run for every little whimper Joshua made. Sometimes he's still asleep but Dh has to pick him up

Anyhow, it took a week to sort out so that Joshua new that we are there if he needs us but he needs to fall asleep on his own. My back can't handle 10kgs

I started training at 10months, late I know but Dh kept interfering

Now, at 15months, I can happily put him in his cot with Oscar, his soft toy dog, and the two of them will chat away and in about 10 - 20mins Voila, he's in dreamland :woohoo:
Oh, when I put him down, I tell him I love him, and that he needs to sleep 'cos Oscar also tired and wants to sleep. So cute to see them sleeping with him holding onto Oscar.

P.S Weekends, he'll play with OScar for up to an hour before calling on us. We listen to this on the monitor. Sometimes we catch a lie in snooze :woohoo: before the master calls ;)

Thanks guys! Lets face it Marijke is awesome and and if I can get the sleep thing down to what you're doing I will be so very smug..
(Incase you didn't know Annalize.. she just puts B in her cot and then, she falls asleep on her freakin own!!)
I'm gonna start doing the workk, soon!
I'll let you guys know how it goes.
As for diciplining these little terrors? I dont know! My lb is a sensitive boy and I dont want him to be nervous or always feel like he is doing something wrong, so I try not to freak out over everything, but he has started developing a special weapon where he SCREAMS (nnot neccesarily crying) when he wants something or I take something away. I dont want him to be a brat it's very anti social.
Honestly I'm not too worried, I think I'm more the kind of person that should make sure I'm not too strict?
So far if he is being naughty (/very irritating over something he wants) I look right at him and say stop it Jude, no!) or if he's trying to pull the bin over, I can hear him so first I say, Jude?? then when I come around the corner, he already knows he's doing something wrong, so I'll say, what? are you doing? No come... (I dont wait for him, though, lol, I REMOVE him, haha)
He can tell when I'm making a stern voice though, it's still all quite cute though! lol

Ah Memo, a great developmental mile stone ;)

When B hit that age she really couldn't sleep anywhere near us as it was so much more interesting to watch us sleep and jump around on the bed. What I did was to put her down in her cot, she'd be up before I'd even left the room. I'd leave her until her chatting became too loud and would go in again and lay her down. Over and over again. At some point she'd get the idea and it only lasted two or three weeks.

And Claudia then only thing really is distraction - for B it's still the only 'gentle discipline' I use for her

lol memo, James has just started doing the same thing:) In the bath I soap him while standing and then fight him to lie down so that I can rinse the soap off. Usually I have to hold him down (In the swimming pool though hes happt to float on his back).

I think its just a developmental stage - the world is so much more visable from up in the sky compared to lying down and once he is standing/walking independantly it will probably stop. James is now also waking again 2 hourly and I cant even breastfeed him back to sleep - he just claws his way into a standing position and smiles at me. I posted on a natural parenting facebook page and had about 20 people tell me that their lo's did the same thing:)

However James had a full on temper tantrum at swimming today when I took away a toy, so any ideas on how to gently discipline a 9 month old???????

Sorry Memo, can't offer any advise as I'm also looking for a solution!

Christiaan is 13 months old and for the last couple of weeks he wakes up every night between 11:30 and 12:30, crying. Doesn't want dh to pick him up or soothes him, he just cries more. Just want me and he stops crying immediately when I pick him up. Falls asleep almost immediately but when I put him back in his cot, he starts crying again. Last night dh rock him back to sleep 3x, put him back in his cot and each time after about 10-15 minutes he starts crying again. So he just ends up in bed with us, cuddling with mommy and is asleep almost immediately! I'm still bf, so I can understand if he wakes for a feed, but most of the time he doesn't even want to feed, he just wants to be close to me and wants to be sleeping in my arms.

The past week he also started crying when I put him the water @ bath time. Always loved playing in the water. Since he found his independence he also just want to stand and not sit down.

Don't know if the restless is because he started walking?

Hope you get a solution soon.

HELP
The whole sleeping thing is just so out of hand and it can sometimes make me and dh miserable.
So I'm ready to hear ANY suggestions..
He does not cry when I put him in his cot, but the problem is that, AS soon as he wakes or when he's put down anywhere, he gets up. He MUST stand, always!! Or sit or ANYTHING, so long as it down not resemble a sleep position. He even stands in the bath.
Help guys, what are you doing?
