I would also have a little chat to his pead, as he has almost tripled his birth weight in almost 3 months - they normally double their birth weight in about 4 months.

As to starting solids - you will do more damage to his digestive system than anything else. By "too much milk" they mean more than 1000ml ( one litre) of formula in a 24 hour period - if your LO is exceeding that, then you really do need to chat to the doc.

Im one of those mommies that can vouch on Lactogen. It does make babies pick up weight fast. I say dont change his milk. Kyle now weighs 10.6 and is only 9 months old. He isnt overweight and im not worried. He will lose it when he starts walking. The amount on the tin is only an indication on how much but you dont have to follow it. If your doc is happy, then dont stress about it. If he isnt uncomfortable or doesnt have problems because of his weight like breathing, leave him. He is just a growing boy.

You should definitely ask your paediatrictian about it - maybe he needs to change his milk or cut down on some feeds.

My cousin's little boy was also overweight at a similar age and it actually started affecting his breathing and the doctor said he had to go on "diet". Basicall i think she changed his formula and adjusted how much she gave him (based on his recommendations). He is now much better.

Starting solids early won't necessarily help as very early they don't really get much of their nutrition from teh solids and so he'll still be drinking a lot of milk but getting extra calories from teh solids as well.

Nixie you should check with your paed about starting solids too soon and yes you may be overfeeding your lo.

You actually didn't say when last your lo was seen by a doctor or paed. I suggest you see one now or you could see a dietitian who are really helpful when it comes to feeding young babies.

If the paed isn't worried then don't worry either. Paediatricians will usually tell a mommy when to watch the weight.
