Where are you located? In Cape Town, there's an agency called Stork Registration Services that may be able to help.

But here's my advice: Go to the Dept of Home Affairs where you applied and ask to speak to the manager/supervisor - you need to go WITH YOUR RECEIPT (this is the ONLY evidence you have that you applied for the name change). It's much better to deal with people in person rather than over the phone and having the receipt to show how long you have been waiting will add so much more weight to your case.

Gracios@ sorry to burst your bubble dear but unfortunately you could even wait even longer, dh and I changed our surname and it took almost 2years of fighting and another year + of fighting again for the confirmation letter! You might have to open a case at their tollfree no 0800601190.

I can't give a suggestion, but wanted to comment on my home affairs wait.
I got married 17 July 2010 and besides having a maiden name to married name change, I also requested a 'name' change.
The home affairs guy said that because I was doing a name change I may need to wait 9 -12 months for my new documentation.....I am still waiting.

There are agencies that you can use just check the yellow pages. think their name is "q for you"

I am starting to get impatient as i had my lil one’s birth certificate changed but after 6months they are still telling me that it hasn’t changed yet. How long must i wait? Are there agencies i could use?
