Charnenay - Looks like Little Kaelyn is joining in with Emily... she's been doing it for about two weeks or so now, maybe longer... I literally have to stand in the room with her for an hour while she struggles to put herself back to sleep!

The night before last we aere at an all time low with her screaming blue murder for about an hour and a half... so DH and i decided to give her somepansoral coz surely she is sore...

But it didn't help... so we then took her to our bed and just lay there holding her and listening to her cry...

:-(

The Paed had an extra close look at her to just be sure nothing was wrong and recommended i try an iron supplement as i am exclusively breastfeeding... all that did was turn her poo black... :-(

But i guess its just a stage and it will pass soon enough! It just irks me that she used to sleep right through,,, youd put her to bed at 7 and she would sleep till 5am and only then would i hear from her

Now its a dummy run at 11.. then between 2&3 is hell hour and she eventually gets me to relent and give her her 5am feed at 4 just in order to get that last hour of sleep!

I cant count the times i have cried to DH how i cant do this anymore... but somehow i still find myslef here and doing it... not happily doing it, but going through the motions from day to day... Just getting through today or this week or to that public holiday next month...

Anyhow just thought i would let you know you are not alone...!

Julz I totally agree with you. I also had a difficult or should I say, sensitive baby BUT she also had reflux up until she was about 6 months & we put her on Novolac AR for a few months & it really did help a lot.

She still gave me a bit of hell after that with other niggles :-)

I think it is good that there are so many tips & tricks out there & hopefully some of them will work for some mommies but alas, not all will be so lucky :-(

I also just eventually accepted that I had a difficult baby/toddler & hopefully, fingers crossed, that when I decide on no. 2, that he/she will be an easy child ha ha ha. I think that is also why I've put no. 2 off for soooooooo long.

Ohhhhhhhhh yes & my daughter is a Scorpio & I totally believe in your starsign as they are stubborn, very strong willed children & not easy babies. I have experienced it first hand & I will never ever have another scorpio child!!!! They are not easy to handle but I love my daughter to death ~

Thanks Charnenay.

I recieved this from a new (3 weeks) first time mom, who is really battling and this gave her hope for the first time in 3 weeks, so I thought.... mmmm if it helped her, it may well help someone else

This definately not me. I wish it was me. I also had a crying "for no reasons" 2nd child

Just trying to do my bit to help those stuggling through this craziness that is motherhood, didn't mean to twitch any nerves

Sorry JO C. I am menopausal!!! No excuse I know, but I just felt frustrated by the article.

Thanks for pointing that out Charnenay.

I get that this may help many moms so I do appreciate that. I just want moms to know that a crying baby is the norm for many of us and it is okay.

Julz , I get what you are saying.

My 10 mnth old daughter has been screaming for 1-2 hours most nights for the past few weeks. Doc says there is nothing medically wrong with her. So, unfortunately, I have to let her scream :( and what works for 1 mom does not always work for another - would be awesome if it did because then we would all already have the answers to everything. So while I am happy that this worked for some, I am sure it is not the "cure" for colic.

P.s - Julz, JoC did a copy and paste of the read she was recommending - this is not her personal story - I also thought it was at first.

I am a mom who had a colic baby and I am thilled this worked for you, however I worry a bit about some of these statements.

Yes babies have silent refulx, not much you can do about it other than to life the head which many of us do. Some kids benefit from meds.

We also check many other things and adjust and medicate and yet our babies still cry.

I just worry that this is a cure all which may not work for all moms and again we will end up feeling like a failure.

I believe babies (some of them) do just cry and the only way I got through it (even after breastfeeding every two hours day and night) is to believe that my son was okay. Not hungry, not in pain, but just sensitive. He settled down at three months. Nothing had changed.

Breastfeeding was the one thing that gave us both pleasure so to have stopped breastfeeding at night would have been more stressful for me anyway.

I think as hard as it is to accept, acceptance is key. When I accepted that I had a high maintenance baby, I found peace. I didn't fight his needs, I gave into them and I think that was the turning point for us.
