acidified baby formula

i also use novalac...we use AC.... my son does very well on it and i also like the fact that you can swop within the range...

Acidified baby formula, like Nan Pelargon inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria in the prepared feed. This provides some advantage over non-acidified formulas in areas that have less than ideal hygiene.
While the formula does have the stated advantages in regard to bacteria, the NAN Pelargon packages all contain instructions to boil water before mixing, as the effect of acidification does not replace the need to boil the water before using(if that makes any sense?)

butterflies, I see you mentioned in your post that Sister Lilian mentioned Novolac IT. I just bought that last week for my SIL's lo as she was extremely constipated & it worked in less than 2 days.

I just love Novolac as you get different kinds for different problems. My daughter was on Nan until she was 3 months old. She had problems with acid reflux, bringing up milk & the acid caused those white pimples in her face. Her peadiatrician changed her to Novolac AR(anti-regugutation) to assist with the reflux & acid. It worked immediately. Her pimples disappeared, she didn't bring up so much milk anymore & when the symptoms lessoned, I changed her back to normal Novolac & she stayed on Novolac until she was 1 & a half years old!!!

The only negative thing is that Novolac is very expensive because you don't get them in big tins. You pay round about R70 for a small tin & that can become costly when your lo starts drinking more milk. I know when my daughter started drinking about 150ml's per bottle, we had to buy like 8 tins a month but it was so worth it for me.

The nice thing about Novolac is that you can change back to your previous formula if baby is better so you don't have to keep using Novolac.

My cousin's 2nd child was on Lactogen from birth but was constantly hungry & didn't sleep well. I told her about Novolac Sweet Dreams & she put him on that for a while & that also helped him immediately.

Thank you for your email. Nan Pelargon actually has a buffering effect for acid reflux so would probably be fine for your baby. However, why not call the Nestle customer line on 011 889 6789 and ask them directly? Novalac IT is a formula specially designed with constipation in mind and that too might be an option. Goat’s milk powder or fresh pasteurised also tends to give less problems with constipation and is easier on many little ones’ digestive systems. We would also suggest giving your son Rescue Digest from the Sister Lilian Remedies range to help support his digestive system
