file can teething be the cause?

Ok, I seem to replying to the wrong people ??? LOL!!! Urgh!!! Apologies - still suffering of pudding brain mixed with sleep deprivation.

as Yaz
That is what I did two weeks ago - took her to Ped to exclude medical reasons - and secretly wishing for a 'magic' potion!

So many, many things. New developments - so many!!! Sitting up, rolling over (which she seems to want to do when sleeping and thus waking up)

Have been reading up on so many sleep techniques - not in favour of cry it out but almost feel 'forced' to try it at least. I DON'T LIKE MY ANGEL TO CRY..... :S

Co-sleeping, tried it and she will want to 'breastfeed' for the duration she is there......

But thank you so much - feel better, just talking about it.

Hey Karma,

Thank you so much for your reply. I had her with her Ped just under two weeks ago - where she was given a thorough check up. Her ped didn't pick up anything on the ears? Although she prescribed antibiotics for her nose, which was just not clearing, no matter what we did.

I had actually mentioned to her that she would sometimes fidget with the ear or behind the ear and that is why she specially checked the ear. She (Ped) said that most babies scratch their heads/pull on the ears when they are tired. And she seems only to do it when she is tired.....Should I then take her back?

I hate feeling this unsure.....

Will be sure to join the Forum, as I said - new to this :)

Hi there and welcome to Moomie :)

I agree, first exclude any medical causes for night wakings. If she has been cleared by the GP/ paed the guessing game begins :) Babies looove waking up for loads of reasons...and they're usually one step ahead of us!

Firstly, she may just want to be close to you, her favourite comfort item - especially seeing that you are still breastfeeding her (which is awesome!). Have you considered co-sleeping and feeding her while lying down? Might get you both a better night's rest as neither of you has to wake up fully.

Teething can always be the culprit. My little girl is an exceptionally bad teether and nothing has helped except homeopathic Chamomile powders! But you can try rub-on stuff such as Prodol and if all fails you can give some Nurofen to help reduce the inflammation.

Then they also like to wake up when they have reached new milestones such as sitting or crawling etc. but also cognitive milestones. Many babies continue to practice in their sleep. These phases usually pass after a week or two.

It's quite common for babies to sleep through at 2-3 months and then all hell breaks loose as everything in their lives becomes so exciting ;) Their are certain sleep regression phases (4 months which can extend to 6 months and 9 months are the most common ones). If you are in favour of it, you may want to try (no-cry) sleep training, there are lots of different methods - google is your friend :)

Good luck!

Hi TahliasMom

Welcome to the best Forum in the World.

have you checked her ears - maybe she has an ear infection?
My LO is almost 6 months old and had middle ear infection about a month ago. She was fine and after an afternoon nap she woke up crying and that continued for a couple of days. She woke up every 1 and a half and it caused a lot of sleepless nights. I took her to the Pead and she confirmed ear infection. Inge also touched her ear a lot which is an indication that the ear was bothering her. Also if you take her to the Pead and it is ear infection, please let them test the pressure in the ears.

hope your LO gets better soon!!!!! Also, you can join us at the Jan/Feb 2011 Mommies (Nov & Dec 2010 early babes) thread as your LO is the same age as mine.

 i am very new to this - forums but am so desperate, i will try just about anything. my almost 6month old little daughter sleeps as of 7 at night but wakes up regularly - can set my watch to it - at 2am in the morning
after which, neither i nor her father gets much sleep. she has sprouted her two bottom teeth at four months and still recovering from a very nasty cold.

now i want to know....could her night waking be due to her teething? i have no clue if she is in pain as she becomes restless and then starts crying and only when cuddled (preferably by me and on the breast) does she settle again.

i did not use a pacifier with her but find she will suck it for a while, until it plops from her mouth. it's not that she is hungry - she just wants to suck.....

so as you can hear...to me it looks like many things but would hate to think that there is something i could be doing to help her sleep through.

she started sleeping through at around 2months, then got a cold, then the teething started, then another cold....and here we are.....very sleep deprived and very frustrated.

pls help.... :S
