file 18 MO LG doesn't answer to her name

we tested her ears when she was born, plus at 8 months at the nurses, I think she is a normal child, she might be a bit shy, but today I saw her interaction with a boy her age, and they were ''talking'' and she was laughing so hard, she reacts to every sound, but I think when she is doing something else is when she ignores. I notice when she is alone she plays quietly, for like 15 min, she laughs a lot, always on her daddy's belly, so is not like she doesn't like being touch or people holding her (I read that is a symptom)...so I don't know really what to think of it. Tomorrow is her 18 months old check up, I will talk to the nurse about it.

I'm not discounting your concerns, get her checked out, but also consider getting her ears checked. Does she respond to other noises? Also, does she regularly get called by her name or a nickname? Could she perhaps not respond to her name because she's not used to it?

How does she react to other sounds - I would also have her hearing tested and if you are really concerned about autism (are there any other "symptoms" displayed) take her to an OT

Get it checked if you're worried (maybe check ears first) but I wouldn't stress. James always ignores me if there's something more entertaining going on.

Loris, a mommy's concern should never be overlooked. You know your child. Is there any other reasons to suspect autism? If you feel concerned, please take her to an Occupational therapist for peace of mind. It also helps to diagnose things like autism as early as possible so that you know how to stimulate your child and what you can and can't expect of her.

I would have her ears tested as well if I where you.

But hopefully its just a phase...
