Just make sure that you keep yourself hydrated. I also have a funny tummy this week, I've still been breastfeeding because Madam also not been well and doesn't want food. I've been drinking Rehydrat and lots of water/fruit juice etc just to make sure I get better.

MommyN, maybe drink some extra probiflora and give the reuteri drops to your LO to make your "tummies strong"! :P

Thanks everyone! I thought it wouldnt be too serious to continue bf. I dont feel too bad. I do believe the body has its own way of getting rid of bad things, and especially when bf'ing. I'll watch him and hopefully he is ok. I agree, we are all in contact with eachother whether I bf or not, so its better to continue and at least he gets the anti-bodies. Wow, our bodies are amazing! Since his initial 3,5 week hospital stint at birth (premature birth) he has only had a snotty nose and had no anti-biotics. So I believe his system is very strong, he should be ok.

Thanks everyone :-) I just needed some Moomie re-assuring! :-)

Continue bf! She is getting your antibodies, if you stop shell still be in contact with you but won't be getting the antibody protection. Also even if she does pick up the bug from you, breastfed babies normally get better much quicker( eg rotavirus is double as likely to cause hospital admission in formula fed babies than in breastfed babies!!!h

I fed Em through my tummy bugs, and she was only on BM, so I'm sure that there is no issues with you feeding him, he cant get the bug through your milk.

I remember when my LO was in hospital at 6 weeks I got stomach flu. 2 doctors told me to stay away from her (as she was already very sick) and another doctor and breastfeeding consultant told me to continue breast feeding. mmm...In my case I decided to stay away from her.

But if your LO isn't sick at the moment I would continue breastfeeding, making sure you wash your hands regularly.

Hope you feel better soon. This stomach bug is known to be active in spring!

Hi,

my lactation consultant told me to continue breastfeeding when I have been ill, with colds etc.

aparently they get the antibodies through the milk before we even show symptoms of being sick. I have had terrible flu and tummy upsets, which I have continued to breastfeed through and Paige has never been sick.

I would continue breastfeeding ...
