I use Cherub Tree nappies on my son. He was born 4 weeks prem (weighing 3kg) and started fitting into the cherub trees nicely by 7 weeks old.
The come with a microfibre insert as well as a hemp insert. In the beginning i just used the microfibre, but as he got a bit older I added the hemp one as well. They generally last 3 hours before needing to be changed. Occasionally i can push that to 4 but then the chance of having a leak is quite high.
I like them very much.
I also have 1 bumbeetles - it only has 1 microfibre insert. I like that very much too and it is softer than the cherub trees. When he was starting to sit i felt like the cherub trees dug into his tummy a bit, but the bumbeetles are softer so didn't.
BUT, with only 1 microfibre insert i can't really go much more than 2 hours between nappy changes. Although you can buy additional inserts to boost the absorbancy.
I have 18 cherub trees and 1 bumbeetles. I only wash nappies twice a week and that is enough for us. I also have a pack of econobums (12 prefolds + 3 covers) so occasionally i use those, especially if it's wash day and i've just run out of nappies. They work really well, but i find it stays very wet against baby's bottom, whereas the pocket nappies have a stay-dry feel to them.
I should add that he sleeps in a disposable, so we only use cloth during hte day. On average he uses 4-5 nappies during the day.
I bought my nappies from 2kidmamma's website
www.doodlebums.co.za - great site with all the different brands on it, and lots of helpful info.
