1st Timer - Yes definitely eating enough and drinking enough during the day.
Nope .... she refuses a dummy as well as the bottle. :(
Yes, shes been to the paed several times and he says he cant see any reason for her not to be sleeping well now. She's healthy and well and probably what they label a "spirited baby". *sigh*

Yes, 1st Timer is right, don't do the "Leave to cry" bit without having your child checked out first. It's never a good idea to leave a child alone in a room unantended to scream for ages, many things can go wrong. scary thought. That's why I preferred to stay with my child and only leave the room for a minute or two at the most. The longest I left my daughter to cry was 5 minutes and then I couldn't take it anymore. 3 nights and she was 100% sleep trained but that doesn't happen with everybody, I think I was quite lucky.

Ugh James did that hourly thing for a while unless we caved and gave him solids.. Brutal! Is tour little one definitely eating enough in the day?

Will she take a dummy?

Also I was told by my moms and tots teacher to get my son checked over by a GP or paed before sleep training.

KarinM, send me your email address, I have the electronic version of the book that we used,. It really worked for us with our daughter. The trick is getting your baby to self sooth by making her know you are there and settling her in her cot without picking her up she may only cry for a set period of time before you go comfort and settle her again, you determine what that time frame is, 1 minute or 10 or whatever even 30 seconds. Even if you remain in her room tills he falls asleep if you have to. So it's directly opposite to both of those books you mentioned but really does work. It all balls down to not picking up but not letting the child feel deserted entirely but leaving alone in a room to "cry it out" I'll email you anytime.

Shame that sounds hectic..at 6 months they should be sleeping a bit better than one hour at a time..
Have you started with solids yet?
