And my little prince started crawling last night! It double work watching a 2 year old and crawling 10 month old!!!

Imska, even if you have gates, try to teach your child to go up and down, just in case. Its also excellent therapy!

You sound like my mum there MommyN. I am trying to give her as much freedom as my heart can allow it and today, nanny dearest didn't fasten the crotch strap when she placed her o her feeding chair. I remembered your post as I read it quickly last night before dozing off and I pictured her taking the plunge, that was not a pretty sight in my mind. Needless to say, I took extremely deep breaths, picked my child up and found the nicest way to tell the nanny, all it takes is for us to turn our backs for 2 seconds for the worst to happen.

I also got a stair case in my house, and told DH, under no circumstances am I having baby number 2 in this house. so for ow, I need to buy gates FAST and before I get pregnant again, MOVE!

The kids are more resilient than we know!

We have steps that are at an awkward angle and I taught Missy to go up and down them. When she did fall, she actually "rolled" down, her back arched and her head tucked in - she naturally fell in a better way than I expected. Yes, got a terrible fright, but it wasnt that bad!

There is a first for everything... diving out of the high chair (yes, sometimes we all forget to buckle in and we turn our backs for 2 seconds), the first time falling out of bed, the first time slipping in the bath...

Sarah got her first bad grazed knee this weekend! So now to add to all the bruises she constantly has, she has grazed knees too!

We cant wrap them up in cottonwool!

I love what Claire A said.

However, do make sure that bookcases/loose wallcubboards are fastened with screws/brackets. Pulling at a heavy piece of furniture could result in death or serious injury.

Thank you so much ladies.
Claire A, if someone else told me the same thing, I would probably smile too. I wished for Malia to be able to crawl for the past 3 months and now that she is doing it, I have no idea how to react.

Ya neh first time Mommies we go overboard with everything.

I used to be so over-protective, it was hilarious LOL would have Cushions/Continental Pillows surrounding my LG's "play area so that she's protected. needless to say she climbed ontop of those cushions and rolled off from there :(

just make sure your place is "safe" as the other ladies have mentioned, but let her explore. I know how exhaustive it is to run after LOs, they have so much energy than us
