Thanks everyone. It does sound like the angelcare monitor is a good make. We'll probably wait until he's born and see how things go. They're fairly easy to get hold of so it should be quite easy to make a plan, even if last minute.

I have an angelcare monitor. I got it second hand after it was used for 2 other children. It is still in perfect condition (even it has been dropped numerous times).

We have a small house, though we still use it for our 3 year old.

This is the one item that I would really miss if I never got it!

Hi, I need to get a 220 volt Baby monitor or any good one that runs on batteries.
Does anyone know the best brand for it and also where can I get it on affordable price?

Thanks in advance!

We also have the angel care monitor with breathing pad. You can switch off that tick tick sound but i find it reassuring. The breathing pad goes under the mattress so it's definitely not something that would interfere with baby's breathing. And my son has been sleeping on his tummy since 6 weeks old and never had a problem.

We also have a really small house and sleep in the room right next to baby. But he doesn't cry when he wakes up. He just lifts his head and starts looking around. Without the monitor i would never know when he was awake until he started crying which would be quite a while after waking. With the monitor i can hear his breathing change when he pops his head up so i know to go and check and he's always lying there looking around.

i bought a cheap second hand sound only monitor but it's not sensitive enough to pic up little sounds like breathing so i still never know when he's awake if we're out visiting unless he actually starts crying as that the monitor does pick up.

We used the Angel Care with pad with my son and I will use it again for nr 2. Personally I have never had any issues with it. The pad goes under the mattress so it shouldn't effect baby's breathing at all.

If you have a small house and only want one for sound then you probably don't need one. We have quite a large house and I can easily hear my son.

However I do find it useful of we are having a large party and see outside or if we are away as often you are then a bit far away to hear them.

I really liked having the breathing pad personally though. Otherwise I would have been up and down looking in on him everytime he slept through a feed!

Why don't you are how you feel after the birth though? It's not urgent and dh can always pop out and get one of you feel you want one.

Hi Mckkim,
We used the angel care. And it worked perfect for us. I'm 6 weeks preggies now, and will use my angel care again! It only makes a soft tick..tick... sound, like those in the NICU.
