silent reflux and nexium

I am new here...testing out the collective knowledge of moomie

My baby suffers from silent reflux and the doc recently prescribed Nexium. I give him half a packet a day, but the doc said not to continue for too long, to give it for a few days and then stop as it is not great for the baby to be on it for too long. Has anyone else gone on to Nexium for reflux, and what was your dosage and how long did you put baby on for? I am not sure (and didn't ask!!) how many days to give him a break from it for...and won't it stop working the minute I stop giving? He has been so much better when on the meds!
