5 month old biting - teething or?

Hi and welcome. Could be teething, age appropriate exploration or hunger at 5m!

For teething, yet teegel, wet face cloths in the freezer and teething toys. If none of those work and baby is over 17 weeks it might be worth adding solids but speak to your clinic sister or paed first of you are unsure.

The biting can definitely be from teething, their gums get itchy and so they want to soothe them. My LG started fussing with her mouth from about 4 months and got her first teeth at 7 months.

It can also be developmental and exploring as Gloei has said above.

It is possible that it could be teething. Some babies start teething early. It is also normal for them to put everything in their mouth at this age to explore objects.
I suggest you get a teething ring and see if she likes to bite on that! My LG never liked any teething rings though.

Hi ladies!

I am new to this forum so please excuse me for posting in the wrong place or any other newbie faux pas

My LG is five months old, and for the past month has been biting everything - including my fingers (her favourite) - on and off. She can go maybe a week without biting and then she will return to it with a vengeance and sometimes spend days biting down really hard.

I was wondering is this a sign of teething, or do babies just like to bite from time to time?
