Vaccinations. private or government?

I'm not sure how true that is Shantal, I went the private route and my baby was vaccinated at 6 weeks and 14 weeks. Check the vaccination schedule on your baby's chart given at birth. it will have your vaccination schedule.

I was faced with the same question today. I was told that at a pvt clinic baby can be vaccinated at 8 weeks and not at 6 weeks like clinics that's carry govt stock.

Is this true?

I do the same.
Go to a private clinic and opt for government stock subject to availability.
The bigger clinics eg at dischem and clicks seem to get more stock and their consult / injection fees are cheaper, but the personal care you get out of a private clinic for advice on baby, care, sleep, feeding etc could be worth the cost of the consult fee if you are after some support and not just the vaccinations.

First time around I went the private clinic route, it was a tremendous route.
This time, for financial reasons I have gone with a clinic at a pharmacy to save money. I phone before hand (A few days) to check on stock levels, and this clinic does keep aside for a day or two, then I just go private for the MMR and Chicken Pox and 10week Previnar which government doesnt subsidise anymore.

As far as I know the government and private vaccinations are basically the same, just the private offers a slightly different schedule (getting them at different times), and also offers some extras.

We follow the government schedule, but get the private 'extras', e.g. chicken pox, MMR, etc.

I take him to a baby clinic in a pharmacy. Most pharmacies have a clinic inside and you can request both government and private vaccs there. Just bear in mind that they only get a limited amount of the goverment shots so they are sometimes out of stock of them and you either have to wait untiil they get new stock, or pay for hte private one.

I am new mom and trying to make sense of the vaccination schedules.

What is the difference between the two and which would you chose and why?

Also I would like to know if i could go to a government clinic and also to a private clinic for vaccinations that the government may not subsidise?
OR do i have to stick with one clinic for all his vaccinations?

Has anyone been to the petervale clinic? How do you rate it?
