exclamation-circle Severe Nappy Rash - HELP!

Glad to hear the rash is better!! Shame, it must be really painful.

PLEASE do keep her on a good probiotic for at least 3 months, but I would recommend you keep her on it permanently. After a good multivitamin I see a probiotic as second on the list of must haves (my pead agreees). A major part of your immune system is based in the gut - therefore fighting any kind of disease begins with the ability of the gut to fight of all the viruses etc.

Lauzmayer: My sister used to swear by antipeol as well - but yes, very pricey indeed!

Hi ladies

Thanks for all your input.

Just to update you that FINALLY after 3 weeks of battling - we are winning the nappy rash wars.

I started using Covarex fungal cream (the junior one for babies) and have mixed that with Fissan paste and some sudocream. It is finally looking a million times better.
The clinic lady actually told me about the covarex seen as though I tried so many other things.

I also started with probiotics on monday again.

So all in all it is working.

Thanks again!
Don't know what i would do without all my moomies :-)

Hi Monica,

I went through the exact same thing, and im sorry I only saw this now but a friend told me about Antipeol cream and it worked like a charm with Ali, her rash was gone within 2 days. A really expensive cream but definitely something to invest in.

I would definitely keep her on the probiotic. Im still giving her reuterina drops and she has been off the antibiotics now for two weeks. Im also giving her yoghurt just as an added boost!

Yes - you should. They can get the probiotic daily, even after they have finished the antibiotic... But if she has been on an antibiotic then she should stay on a probiotic for at least 3months...

The probiotic bum spray is really good hey!

Hi ladies

Thanks for the all the replies.

my baby's bum is looking much better although it is still there - but certainly not as bad as it was.

I have just been using sudocream and a bit of bepanthan
cleaning with cotton wool and water and put her in rooibos bath twice....

I will try the nyastacid again seen as though its not so bad anymore and maybe it can just take the last little bit away. I really hope it goes away soon!

She was on a probiotic with the antibiotic but i don't normally continue that when the anti biotic stops.... should I?

Thanks again for all the replies - really appreciate it!!

Have a good weekend!

Hi Monica

Just wanted to follow up on your baba's bum rash...

My baby too had a very bad bum rash, blisters and all it even looked a bit open..I noticed when it was this bad that nystacid wouldnt work properly, till I used Ludoderm with the nystacid and it worked so much better and quickly started getting better, once the blisters started going away I would only use the nystacid and it got much better then..

Give it a try again, I always have some nystacid now, so when a rash even begins I use it so that it doesnt get too bad.

I hope its better tho

Crecheguard has a probiotic bum spray that you could also try. My LG is also on antiobiotics, and the rash started. Within a day of using it religiously at every nappy change it was gone...

Also reuterina for at least 3months afer a course of antibiotics...

Hope your little one's bum bums is soon better
