Road trip with a newborn!

I had to do a 13 hr road trip last yr not long after DD2 was born I drove 6 hours I had pre booked in at a caravan park and stayed the night then kept going in the morning.
I stopped when DD2 was hungry DD1 was fine to just be given some food when ever she was hungry an shes really good in the car!
For the carseat or capsual I just used the car seat I already had but used it in capsual position (of corse), although to hire a capsual from the ambulance is great because they will fit it for you so you know it's all safe!

I did a small 3 hour road trip with a 6 week old, and one hour into the drive he made one of those poo's that goes up the back and dirtied everything! Just be prepared...and keep everything you need on hand.

At 6 weeks my baby wasn't a big sleeper (nothing's changed), and for the last 2 hours of the drive, I had to keep him entertained.

Yes, I agree with Deja, and definitely be sure to take baby out of her seat for at least half an hour when she's awake so her body doesn't get too sore.

what friends of mine do when they travel from CT to PE is to leave at around 10 or 11 at night, then drive through the night. Baby is already sleeping for the night so sleeps most of the way and long stretches, and then they get to their destination early morning.

I want to know what advice anyone can give for going on a 10 hour road trip from durban to nelspruit with a 6 week old! I breast feed and also pump. I would love any tips and hints!
