Could be silent reflux? I also recommend the probiotic drops! It really does help. And my baby was much more comfortable when I stopped all cow's milk protein (no butter, no milk, no cheese etc) - it really made a huge difference (only relevant if you are breastfeeding of course). It might take 2 weeks to a month before you see a difference, since the cow's milk protein takes that long to clear the body, but just stick by it for a while.

Hi Julia,

Congrats on your little girl!! Colic is REALLY REALLY hard on everyone, you have my sympathy.

My little girl had terrible colic (from 16:00 to 22:00 daily), we tried everything, and Bennets didn't work for us at all. We ended up using an herbal product my neighbor gave me (I forgot the name, but it was manufactured in the USA and not available here). After it ran out, we researched the ingredients and it turned out chamomile was the main ingredient.

After that, from about 6 weeks old, we gave our daughter very weak chamomile tea (about 2.5 - 5 ml), repeated regularly throughout the day, and that really seemed to have the best results for us.

Also, I definitely agree with the Reuterina drops, we have also been using it since my daughter was about 6 weeks. A good probiotic like Reuterina can do wonders for a baby's immune system and tummy.

Hi Julia

So sorry that your LO is having difficulty.

Reuterina drops definitely helped a lot for us. If you are breastfeeding, try cutting out dairy and soy. Our LO had sensitivity to dairy and soy protein. Just read labels carefully, dairy and soy is in almost all processed/packaged or manufactured foods.

Have you spoken to your pead about reflux?

As suggested my momtoc, Bonnicare is a good option for colic, just remember it takes a few days before it starts working properly.

Hang in there

Hi Julia,

I have no experience with colic but 2 pedeatricians told me that giving a good probiotic daily helps with cramping. Reuteri drops are good in my opinion.

Hi there Julia

Congrats with the new baby.

Is your baby formula fed or breastfed?

Remember, a baby's gut takes about 3 to 4 months to mature. So cramping is quite normal but it is not nice to see them in pain.

I would ditch the Bennetts mixture as it contains alcohol.

You can google colic infant massage that would help a lot when you do it a few times a day. You can also either get iberogast or Bonnicare which helps for cramping.

If you breastfeed, than just keep feeding on demand & burping as much as possible. If you formula feed, be careful of overfeeding as their tummies are still really really tiny & make sure you use the boiled water is luke warm before throwing in the powder & rather feed small, frequent feeds.
