Thanks for the info and links Deja and super impressed you made your own! Also read good things about the woven wrap.

I went to Kids Emporium on Friday (thanks Marijke) and tried on the Boba, Caboo and Snuggle Zbug and ended up with the Snuggle Bug which is really comfortable and I love wearing Paige in it! And most important she is comfortable and happy.

Just cant figure out how to successfully breastfeed in it, even though the instructional video shows you how, I cant get the hang of it, probably just need to practice more!

A Noonoo pie is great for a newborn. I made my own by buying stretchy fabric and looking at You Tube tutorials. (I think you can buy 5.5 metres and then fold it in half and cut it - so each width is approximately 50cm wide.) I used it all the time. I am now looking for material to make a woven wrap, which are amazing carriers. It's like the Noonoo pie, but can take a heavier baby. See this link: whereintheworldiserin.wordpress.com/2010...orld-of-woven-wraps/
You get it with rings or without.

There's a fantastic FB page for South African baby wearers, called Nino Babywearing South Africa. I think it is also run by Jade from Ombaba.

I also have the BabySense sling and although many baby wearers aren't crazy about it, I love it.

Thanks for the feedback ladies.

@Mrstl what is the name of your wrap that you bought at Kids Emporium?

@Marijke where did you get the Snuggle Bug from?

Ive done more research and see there is a Boba wrap and another product called the nunu pie wrap. Both seem similar to the K'tan - anyonr familiar with either of these wraps?

Hi there,

I also bought the babysense sling as well as a baby carrier (both lying unused in the cupboard) but we still (at 10 months) use our baby wrap. I bought mine from Kids emporium but have since found this online:
babycarrier.co.za/shop/page/2/

My wrap is similar to the wrap or the Kangaroo one. The broad fabric over your shoulders really helps with backache.

This is one of the must haves that I didn't know about,

I have one, a wrap, Snuggle Bug. It was SO comfortable! I used it till our little girl was just too heavy to fit in it anymore which was around 6 months if not later.

I went to Kids Emporium and the sales lady helped me to try on all the different wraps and slings, and I agree, the babysense one really isn't high up on any baby wearing mamma's list of must haves!

What also comes highly recommended is the Om baba Mei Tai ombaba.weebly.com/ made by a CT mom, my friend bought one and still uses it for her 2 year old!

Hello,

I have a 4 week old DG and am looking for advice on baby wraps. I bough a baby sense sling and not really loving it. I find it very uncomfortable and DG doesn't appear comfortable at all. I know they say that newborns will appear all squashed and that is normal, but somehow it just doesn't seem right.

We also have a front and back facing baby carrier that can be used from 3 months onwards.

There seems to be such a wide variety of wraps and carriers in the US and UK and I am even tempted to order one via Amazon, but the costs are probably going to be high due to shipping.

Anyone using baby wraps and if so which brands and how are you finding them?

I love the k'tan, but not available locally
