Hi Faffy

I am not sure at what age you can use this, please check with your pharmacist or doc, to confirm but for as long as I can remember we have always used Otrivin paediatric nose spray on my daughter, two quirts in each nose, it actually stimulates them to sneeze and within few minutes all the mucus comes out either with a sneeze or cough from them.

I was then told to stop the post nasal drip that causes the congestion, used Sinumax for max 5 days, by day 2 you will see the difference, it does make them drowsy but again I am not sure at what age you can use Sinumax for babies, so please again confirm with your doc or pharmacy.

I have never been able to use an aspirator successfully, but maybe try all the suggestions given by the other mama's so far to help baby along.

I know you and baby are probably sleeping very little with this, all the best and good luck I hope you both get some relief soon.

I second the nose frida! I've been using it regularly for months along with flobaby. It really works and is 100% safe

Hi Faffymum!

Don't know if you have read the FAQ yet on the baby vac website:

www.babyvac.co.za/faq.htm

My baby was totally fine with the noise of the vacuum cleaner and she was also completely fine with the sucking. It is over in about 15 seconds anyway. After that amount of time we couldn't get anything else to come out. It really is gentle. You can feel the suction on your hand and it is barely there. We put the vacuum cleaner in another room with the door closed to reduce noise although baby was totally fine with it.
It helps to spray with saline just before sucking to loosen the snot.

Our Pead did stress to make sure you clean the parts very well with warm water and soap and then afterwards sterilise in Milton solution.

A lot of the users on Amazon mentioned previously using the Nose frida and then switched to the baby vac.

The nosefrida is a gentler alternative. Saline and sucking works! Hope your baby is better soon.

Rather take him to a physio for treatment, then she can show you how to use the baby vac correctly.

hi mom's.

I would like to know more about nasal aspirators and how safe they are? I know some of them work, but how safe is it suck on your babies sinuses passages. will they get future sinuse damage?

my boy has been having a nasty cold for 5 days now. He is only 7 weeks old. I am trying everything to help him get rid of his mucous and not succeeding. I was thinking of using a baby vac but the thought of attaching it to your vacuum cleaner freaks me out. Not sure if want to do that.
