Hi Marilu,

I'm moving to the Brackenfell area. My baby is currently 10 months and stays with her great granny, so I need to start investigating my options for next year possibly.
Any recommendations?

Tracey.

Hi there

We eventually MOVED to Brackenfell cause we couldn't find the right creche in Durbanville! So unfortunately I can't make any suggestions?

My sister's baby is in a daycare in Langeberg Ridge, she's very happy there..will find out what the name is. It's a smaller type of daycare so less children per class.

Hi Marilu

I just wanted to know if you eventually managed to find a daycare facility for Mignione. I am now in the same situation as you and desperate to find a place for my 6 month old girl in the Durbanville, Eversdal, Kenridge area.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Jonelle

I feel your pain, anger, panic, frustration as I too was there many many times. I too cannot afford a Live In although I know it's the best option for us. Good Luck and I really hope you find the best solution for yout LG's health.
I chose to stick it out with my LG she started Daycare at age 1 and was sick till age 3 now very very healthy so I'm sticking it out with my Little Boy as well.

I've googled for you: Daymother in Durbanville, loving, good enviroment, children from 3 months-3 years. Lots of attention, contact Theresa at (021)976 6768/ 0834424584.

Marilu, ek het nou op Facebook gepost. Post ook op SA Child se wall, asook op Baba Indaba. Dalk weet iemand daar ook.

RM, I tried the whole nanny route when I returned to work after 3 month's maternity leave and it didn't work out. Firstly, because I couldn't afford the R2000 a month and secondly because the lady didn't have experience with small babies (the experienced nannies want at least R2500 a month).

Currently the medical aid is paying for all the bills (although it's depleted now) and Mignione already has grommets and after 3weeks she got ear infection AGAIN. So after a visit to the ENT specialist this morning, he told me that unless I take her out of the creche (15kiddies/class) and put her in a daycare with max 5 kiddies per class, then we can expect 2 illnesses per month (that's the rate its been going on since she was 8 weeks old). And I must tell you, I can honestly NOT deal with another virus/bacterial infection within the next month! So I have to find a daycare as in ASAP! (As you can hear, I'm sort of in the panic state now..) I really really wish I could afford a nanny, but we really can't. We're just getting out of our financial difficulties now so really can't go into a dip again.

Ok, enough moaning now :)

Kaye, thanks for the numbers!! Will phone them ASAP!

Misty, thanks for the suggestion but it's a bit far from me :) Hopefully another mom will find it helpfull :) I find it extremely difficult to find daycares cause they're not really advertised on the internet!

Julz, I've phoned ALL the creches in my area and all of them told me that they don't know of any daycares :(

Marilu

I had a look for daymoms in Uitzicht earlier in the year. I have decided to go with a nanny now, but here are the details for the 2 moms I contacted.

Renate: 021 975 8472
Dalene: 021 976 3396 or 082 465 7345
