How did it go last night Anina??

Im not sure if i want to do this, my baby sleeps 6 hours and then has her bottle then sleeps another 6 hours, so its not asif she wakes up 4 times a night. Im a first time mommy and my baby is almost 6 months old, and she has never cried for longer than 10mins!!!!! So if it means i will need to let her cry for more than a hour i dont know how im going to do it!!! Last night i actually looked very carefully at her state of mind when she is feeding in the middle of the night. She is wide awake and she is "starving" cant even wait for me to sit down, takes the bottle out of my hands and starts drinking. Should i just leave her let be?? I also, dont want to raise a brat!!

WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO???

I waited with taking the night bottle away until we had a weeks leave and was at home. I did not feel like going to work after a difficult few nights with LG. Then both me & HD decided an a night to start this (mental preparation) and I stopped giving the night bottle, no water, just tried to pop the dummy in (she did not take this), gave her comfort blanky to her. The first night she cried for about an hour. The next two night went better and by the third night, all 3 of us had a decent nights sleep.

Too me, it was very stressful leaving her to cry, but I am so happy we managed to do this.

I stopped the night bottle very successfully but the my LB started teething and not eating well. So he would wake up at around 3 am and I yielded and gave him the bottle... So now we have to go through it all over again. And Stefan is not falling for the water trick, he just screams his head of until hubby gives in and gives him milk. I'm going to try just doing the dummy tonight. Last night was hell!

I did have the babysense book and found it interesting but my little girl still wakes up once a night for her bottle (even just a little sip) and I'm not too fussed about it. I'm actually more awake the next day if she woke up during the night - so I don't see myself taking this away from her soon

if baby is older than 6 mnths - you can drop all night bottles. start off by replacing one with water for a week and then next week only dummy. will be rough for 1 or 2 nights - but they adjust quite well. I have the baby sense book - and all their advice is quite spot on. my son just loves is 'lappie' (taglet) and use it @ night to self -soothe.

Juanita I just stopped cold turkey and he was actually fine. I just popped the dummy in his mouth.

Water is also a good way.

Was just wondering who has read this book. i bought it on friday and started reading it (as much as lg would allow me) i have already read a couple of great tips and am enjoying their point of view. Im still not sure how or if i can wean my baby off her midnight bottle now that she is eating 3 meals a day. I know she doesnt need it, and havent read anything in the book that suggest how you get her to "drop" that feed other than self soothing, which i doubt will work in this instance. Ive heard of mommies giving lo water and then eventually baby figures out its not worth getting up and just sleeps through.

Any suggestions or comments about dropping nite feed and about the book are very welcome!! :)
