Help Please !!!!!! (Constipation)

Dr said that I must give her movicol as follows: 5 sachets today, 3 tomorrow and then one sachet every day for the next 6 weeks!!!!And he gave me 2 enemas! He said that is the only thing that will work. (They work out the amount of Movicol with the babies weight and lenght) I also asked him if it was healthy keeping a child on movicol for so long and he said this works excellent and it is the only thing that work!

According to him the only time they admit the baby to hospital is when they don't want to drink the Movicol and then they insert a tube in their tummy (don't know exactly how this works)

He also said that I must stop giving her ANY chips (ex.flings, cheese curls, simba) this causes constipation I can only give her popcorn!

Hope this will help her, I hate seeing her in so much pain.

I wish i could help you ladies. It sounds stressful to u 2. I think constipation is caused by lack of moisture in the stomach. We all need lots of liquids to get that food going. What do you feed your babies. Try giving pure water rather than with sugar and drinks. When L was small i used to give her baby musli in the morning, i don't remember if its a nestle product or what. But in those baby food in boxes. This is a long term solution not really immediate. But i would definately give lots of warm water to give moisture to the old food inside. Grace grace to you all.

aspoestertjie done the prune juice but not the purity yet ,my baby is just 51/2mnths old.but it did not work for him.

nanny tried the castor oil in water but nothing
i am back on laxette(doc orders) so now i just hope that he will get a soft poo everyday.

I will try the prune purity when he is 6mnths,now he is only eating cereal.

I am lucky enough not to have struggled with a constipated LO (yet)??

I have heard from friends that the Prune Purity works wonders. Give them a full jar (no 1) I think, or whatever they will eat. Apparently the little ones love it. And it keeps them regular. Now again, this is what I have heard, haven't tried it for myself!

Also, some Sweet Oil in their milk, just to "smeer" the "dermpie" - Oh dear, I have forgotten how to speak (type) english. Blaming it on the pregnancy! Only a drop or two.

been to the pead again yesturday for a second opinion and all i got again was laxette.

No examination was done, no xrays.
when i ask if it can be the formula or the cereal he said no.
i felt so hopeless and confused when i left the offices.

Now hubby dont agree to give laxette for 3 mnths without a good explanation whick doc never gave.

I paid R500 for the consultation and still feed confused.

Hi I'm new here.

I have a girl of 15 months and I don't know what to do anymore regarding her constipation.

I have tried brown sugar in water and tea, movicol, Laxette, glyserine setpills and nothing seems to work. She screams like crazy when she wants to poo, I must help her with a earbud and vaseline.

I am going to see a paediatrition at 10h30 today but just wanted to see if other moms has any advise for me!
