potty train from 4 month!

yes i use disposable nappies because actually it works out cheaper than cloth nappies for which i would use more washing powder, steri nappi, i would have to use the electricity to wash them in the machine not to mention the electricity to heat the geyser so that i could wash them in hot water. Not to mention MY TIME because NO i do not have a 'good lady by my side' please don't presume that because i use disposable nappies i must have money, you would be highly mistaken

I am totally with you on this one Vix. And don't tell me it is because I have closed my mind to it, or it is because I do not understand it, or that I am not brave enough!! I simply don't hav ethe time or the need or the whatever to do this. Babies gain bladder control at much much later than 4 months, well, my babies did. If it worked for you - GREAT! Just don't try to force it on me and I am happy. Oh and as for the enviromental guilt trip ... uhm.... who can really throw the first stone?

Sorry but i simply added my opinion, it wasn't even a nasty one, just a different opinion but i now see that it was obviously wrong (still not quite sure why)

BTW i don't go down the c-sec or natural debate route because i don't waste time debating something that will never have a right or wrong outcome!

I think people must just do whatever rocks their boats whether its EC or disposables or natural vs csection

As long as your child is still safe and not damaged then it just boils down to personal preferences.

I personally prefer disposables. Just the thought of washing the poo out of a potty grosses me out Lol! With disposable I can just quickly fold the poo nappy and chusk it out. No mess

That said we try our best to help mother nature by recycling odds and ends

I hope this dsnt turn into a natural vs c section debate, she was just making an example & voicing her opinion.....

Look do what you do and everyone who agrees with this will do the same. Someone is bound to learn something from this in anyway. Someone will decide to go this route. I say the moment a my begins to walk she'll have a memory of where to take her poo or wee. And even if she makes mistakes no one will look at her funny. We'll laugh about it and move one. But i won't be dealing with poos as much as the one who didn't. Otherwise, i'll come back in a years time to tell you my benefits. I know from the children in my family that they didn't take beyond 14months to know where to go. And none of them were abnormal. So just because the our world has gone from this to disposables, does not mean that the previous generations were nuts. Look at giving birth today. People go for C-section for fear and wrong reasons because of what we see as advenced methods or easy methods. But midwifery is back on the scene and to challenge this method of birth. The natural way is the best. So peace to your hearts ladies.

Im sorry but I agree with Vix on this one. I do not see the need to start potty training a child at 4 months! At 4 months i was busy teaching my LB how to sit, play with rattles etc, the last thing on my mind was to potty train him. I honestly belive there is a time and age for everything.

I understand if you really cannot afford disposables but it will still take months to fully potty train a child regardless.

Everyone does there own little thing to help the planet and we should not be judged on how we do it.

I am by no means a 'green' mommy but we do our bit to cut down on wastefullness including electricty hence our geyser is only on for 2 hours a day for bathing.

I do more than some to try and curb the destruction to our beautiful planet and i recycle almost everything in my bins. The few disposable nappies i use per day is less waste than some households.

NO, i don't believe that this planet will be any cleaner if I decide not to use disposables and the polanet is not helping with my already tight pocket anyways.

so after now i have DEFENDED myself,

my point was that you will spend many many months potty training and won't necessarily have your child trained any earlier. As i said, unless you REALLY can't afford nappies i cannot see the bennefit.

sorry to repeat what i already stated but you obviously missed that in amongst your assumptions that i was a rich mommy who couldn't care less about the planet.
