You are right, teething and reaching milestones can affect sleeping.

E is teething at the moment and having the same problem -- she hasn't slept through for 2 weeks. From sleeping through for 12 hrs at 3 months to this definately feels like we have taken a step backwards. Aslo find the bottle helps alot. :) Slowly going insane I know how tired you are!

Yes, Hannah has a dummy but it's not what she wants during the night. I give it to her - even before she's properly awake,
and she gives it a few sucks then realises theres nothing coming out of it and screams even louder.

She normally wakes the first time somewhere between 9:30pm and 10:15pm. You might laugh, but I'm not sure if waking her before I go to bed will work, because if DH is working late then I'm in bed by 8pm already

I'm not a "cry it out" mommy, so leaving her to cry isn't an option for me. Mia is 3 and 1/2 and as far as sleep goes, I still haven't left her to cry it out, whatever "it" is. No, I'm not a weak person, nor do I think they are spoilt, I just don't have that ability to shut it out and leave her. I'm there for her, why must I make her think I'm not? Anyway, thats MY opinion, everyone does their own opinions :) Don't shoot me :P
The only thing that gives me sanity is to look at Mia when she's sleeping and she sleeps straight through her sisters screaming and mommy's grumbling, and I think, "Ok, I can do this, look at Mia, only 2 and 1/2 years left to go and Hannah will also be sleeping through an earthquake" Ok, it's not that bad, Mia started sleeping through ages ago, but I can't remember when.

Another thing that's weird is that when Hannahh was younger she used to either sleep through or wake up once a night, so I'm wondering aren't they supposed to sleep BETTER as they get older?

Will teeth, or milestones maybe play a role? Still no teeth and she's not crawling yet either, so maybe it's that? I remember with Mia she slept a bit worse during teething or when trying to achieve a milestone, but luckily with her, all I needed to do was pop her dummy back in her mouth!

Does she have a dummy? As this may help. It is the sucking action that soothes them and sends them back to sleep.

You could also try giving her a bottle just before you go to bed. So if her last bottle was at 6pm then give her that bottle and then take her out her cot at around 9pm and give her a bottle. She will sleep through it but she is then getting a full tummy which may stop her from waking at night. Maybe she is going through a growth spurt and needs the extra calories. Hence waking because she is hungry. A bottle at 9pm or 10pm may be just enough to cover her to the morning and stop her waking because she is hungry.

On the other hand if she still wakes up after that then she needs the sucking action and introduction of a dummy may help.

Good luck. It is hard not knowing what to do.

MHM: Ashlee sounds exactly the same as Hannah. She does the same thing during the night. She's not really eating that much in the line of solids though, so I am scared that she is actually hungry at night. I would hate to leave her to cry when she's hungry.

Hi MHMom
As with most things baby-like choose what works for you & your LO.

I gave Zhanelle her night bottle until a had a week off from work (I can't be a zombie at work). DH & I prepared us mentally for a few tough nights and then we just dropped the night bottle. 2 nights of fighting later - our LO sleeps for 11 hours without waking.

We live in Krugersdorp
Zhanelle was born on 20 Jan 2009
Having a child is much harder than I thought it would be!!
