Hi

Sometimes if they have severe diarrhea, they become lactose intolerant for a while which is why they suggest a change in formula until it clears up and then you can go back to the old formula as they will be able todigest lactose once their digestive tract is better. Babies that are lactose intolerant may be soy intolerant as well, so like Julz says check with your paed.

Good question Claire as it is important to get a correct diagnosis. Soy formula is fine but just check as the paeds and dietitians are opposed to soy under 6 months now.

Check with the paed before you start Isomil .xx

Yes, i dont understand how they told you to go back to old formula after 2 weeks?? VERY ODD!! i have to agree, Isomil is great!! You could also read up a bit on Lactaze, its a pill that breaks down the lactose enzymes or something, cant remember exactly. Good luck!

It is so bizarre that they told you you could change back. How did they test for the intolerance ?

Liam was lactose intolerant and I used Isomil with him and he thrived.

Amara is appearantly lactose intolerant, has had diarhee for the past few weeks and when i changed to nan lactose free he got better, i was told to only change him for only 2wks and go back to his normal formula which i infacare but i did and he started diarhee again. This lactose free is so expensive, is there a better option? and cheaper one? What did you do?
