What to excpect when adopting

My hubby and I adopted a 3 month old LG in Nov last year. We adopted her through a Private organisation, which costs ALOT more than government, but we prefer the private system of doing things. The organisation we went through only has coloured/black babies ( i think that is basically the story anywhere in SA )
But we wouldnt have it any other way...

We also went through the pysch testing, medicals, paperwork, waiting period and all that stuff.

When we recently ( like in two weeks ago ) decided that we no longer want to go through fertility treatment and that we would rather want to adopt a child I was so excited but overwhelmed with a lost scene. When googling infertility thousands and thousands of wed sites come up with an endless amount of information so no matter what the question there is probably an answer a mouse click away. This is not the case with adoption and even less in Namibia where me and my husband live.

So we have made this decision and what now do I go to the ministry do I randomly start asking on the street where to now? We then went to our pastor who referred us to the Church Benevolence Board who in return referred me to a Private Social Working, so here our journey begins. I hope to assist other couples that also do not know where to start and who to speak to in this regard. I am sure that this will differ as I am in Namibia and South Africa has its own set of rules.

So this morning I picked up our first set of forms that need to be filled in all sort of information about me and hubby and also a medical form that needs to be filled in by our doctor. We then submit this with certified copies of our identity documents and marriage certificate. Then its of the physiologist for mental evaluations after that has been approved we have four sessions with the Social worker who will then get to know us and prepare us for the emotional journey to come before and after adoption. Then its off to court to legally get approved and then the long wait 

So far the registration will cost us ZAR 300.00 and then the approval process is NAD 2 700.00 there will still be more costs but I will advise on this as it comes.
