Hi Ladies, used to chat here, but then kindof fell off for a bit. Seems the threads been really busy.
I use the old style mother nature nappies, the cherub trees and at night I now use plain old terry squares (I have found them best for going the distance at night - but still add a mother nature booster pad) During the day I have waterproofs that I bought in the UK for use with the MN nappies, but at night I also just use the woolies pants, because although not breathable, they def stop wetness getting through to bedding)
I love the cherub tree, but only "discovered" them when James was 4 months and I had already got a lot of MN stock, so I've been sticking with what I bought.
Just a few questions:
1. Ladies with cherub tree nappies, I've noticed that some of my hemp inserts have become very thread bare and as a result when I use them the nappies leak terribly. Surely this shouldnt be the case? Ive had them for about 10 months, but I was hoping to get more use out of them (for kiddy number 2) - has this happedned to anyone else and is it maybe something I am doing??
2. Anyone using 7th generation washing powder? I've recently changed because it gets a lot of good reviews overseas (you can get it in Dischem, plus its not badly priced), so far its been great, but no one else seems to use and I'm wondering if there is maybe something bad about it??
@ Joli, I'm super lazy, my dirty nappies just get the liners flushed and then thrown into dry bauckets to await washing. I've never rinsed before hand, and I dont have stains.
About the stripping. About every 4 months I strip wash my nappies. I do a long cycle at 60 degrees using the bloublommetjies optical brightener (its just sodium bicard with paw paw extract) and a vinegar softener. Not only does this seem to make them "whiter" but it definitly takes the pong out:)
