lightbulb Rice cereal, veg or fruit as first solids?

Morning

I started with butternut...

I was advised to start with veg first and fruits only after as apparently the fruit is sweeter so babies will prefer that and not want to try the veg after...

Dont know how much truth is in that though!

Good luck and remember to take pics of baby's first meal..often the first reaction is priceless ;)

Mom to a gorgeous boy (4yrs) and due with number 2 in January 2015

If I had to spoon feed next time round I would most definitely go for starting with veggies and then fruit

What would be a good first choice for solids at four months? I'm not very keen on starting with rice cereal as recommended by my clinic sister, but would rather opt for veg such as butternut, baby marrow or sweet potato. I also like to eating plan in the new Feeding Sense book - starting with a gem squash, baby marrow and sweet potato mix. All the mommies who've already been through this, what is your advice?
