file Trying to get 7 week old to take a bottle

Hi

I also breastfed and bottle fed combined and my son took the Nuk bottle perfectly so don't think it has anything to do with the type of bottle/teat to be honest.

Think you just have to try a few more times...its something new so they have to get used
to it first..

My LO never took to a pacifier though.. Am grateful in hindsight coz now I don't have to think about
getting him off it ;)

shame man :( I think you are just going to have to try a few bottles until you find one that she likes. I am a Tommee Tippee advocate for breastfed babies. I have yet to see a bottle teat that looks that much like a nipple. Perhaps buy one and see if she takes to it. Emily took the Tommee Tippee Bottle immediately, but that could have just been good luck because she also took the dummy immediately.

Good luck.

Kaylee refused the Nuk dummy. I think it has to do with the shape of the teat for breastfeeding babies.
The nuk / those that are pre-shaped to look like the nipple when sucked on is not natural for breastfed babies because they take in a round long nipple and flatten it themselves against their pallets.
Kaylee finally took to a pigeon bottle, but even then doesnt drink a full feed always.
She also doesnt take any dummies, snoekums honey is the closest we get but really only when she decides its convenient.

Paed just says its a breastfeeding thing.

You'll probably just have to try out different teats by trial and error. Also maybe try give it to her before she gets too hungry so that she's not so desperate for her food and crying already.

Let us know how it goes.

Try expressing some breastmilk and have someone else give it to your little one.

Sorry, don't have any other advise. I did the above with my LO and she took the bottle without any problem. DH gave her formula on one occasion and for the rest of that day she refused to take the breast. Still not sure why that happened.

It does take some time. And you need to keep trying and trying. Also try to let someone else feed her with a bottle while you go out of the room so she can't see or hear you. It took me about a week to get Megan used to the bottle and then I went back to work and she didn't want the breast anymore. Good luck.

Hi moms,

I have a 7 week old baby and she has been on my breast since birth, i would like to get her onto a bottle to make it easier as i have to go back to work and my mom will be watching her.

I have got avent bottles and when i give her the bottle she just cries non stop doesnt even suck on the teat at all. She also doesnt take the dummie, i have a nuk, pigeon and even honey dummy but no luck.

Have any mom got some advise for me on how to get her onto the bottle.

I have also bought Nan 1 and would like to use that but will stick the breast milk as it is healthier.

Please let me know how you moms did it
