Thanks ladies. I totally forgot about ginger beer. I drank it when Liam was born and it really helped. Will get some today. If it doesn't work then i will try the other remedies.

Vash - get some brewers yeast tablets and some Fenugreek - these are both natural tablets that will increase your milk supply. The brewers yeast is effective as quickly as 4 hours.
You can also try ginger beer and ginger tea - and apparently coke?

The doctors will give eglynol but its pricey at close on R300 for a month supply and you need a script. But its handy to have around. Its also (in this dose) a mild anti-depressant.

I also have a milk supply question so i hope you don't mind me posting it under here angelsmom. I've had the flu for almost a week and my milk supply has taken a serious dip. I haven't had much appetite so could that be the cause? I've also been feeding Liam hourly to try to build up my supply but still on luck. What else can i do?

Laiela - I think you are thinking about Eglonyl (or the generic version Espridite)

AngelsMom - as said you will probably just be uncomfortable, so try to express just to get rid of the tension. When you get home go straight to a big feed.

Then express with the pump straight away - as there will probably still be some over if baby has not fully drained the breasts.

You will then find you may fill up quickly right after, if you do, pump a bit until next feed.

Odds are that this will only be necessary if you are producing lots - but odds are you will be fine, and just have an uncomfortable few hours while away from the pump and the baby.

I went onto nordette when hailey was 6 months and both my gynea and clinic sister approved it. I had no supply issues. If your milk supply is well established then it shouldn't effect it much. If it does, you can always take a pill to increase your milk supply. For the life of me i cant recall the name now.
