file He's 1yr and still on Purity

I would say if you are getting their fruit and veg in and it is in Purity form then that is fine. As long as you get it in. Eventually they stop eating it and start eating proper fruit.

I would not worry too much. My first child had Purity (the meal ones) till he was 18 months old. I do however blame that and myself for him being a picky eater now. It was hard to get him started on normal food. He just refused. He is now 3 and we still struggle to get him to try new things.

My second child is the opposite. He is almost 10 months and still has Purity but I offer finger foods as well and always start a meal with offering him and letting him taste normal food and then give him the Purity afterwards. He is not a fussy eater at all.

I think the problem could be in the texture - purity fruit is very smooth, where as if you cook up say apple and blend it, it doesn't quite get to that smoothness. You could always add some of the purity fruit to your own fruit "concoction" and see if he will eat it. If he does, you can just add less and less fruit purity until he is willing to eat only your concoctions.

But there is noting wrong to give him the fruit purity as a snack! :)

Hi Vamo

I am in the same boat and my LG is 20 Months!
She gets a fruit purity every second day as snack. The other days she gets a yoghurt.
She eats all the normal food - our meals (except for cereal)
She will eat the mielie pap, oats, malta bella and even corn flakes at school but then on weekends wants none of it. So sometimes then I just give her the big bottle of purity fruit as her breakfast.

I am not a big fruit eater and rarely buy fruit as it just goes off in my house.

I guess I must make more of an effort and buy some and make her eat the normal stuff. (But what kind of a role model am i if I don't eat it.... LOL)

I am sure giving the fruit purity is fine for your LO's fruit portions. My LG loves it and that is the only way I can think of (at this stage) to get fruit into her.
I think I am going to give it to her for as long as she enjoys it or finds the real thing better!!
:)

Anina thank you !!!!! So sorry Vamo. Blonde moment!! There is no reason why he can't have fruit purity as a snack!

Shame Vamo, I think most ladies here misuderstood your post, or I did...

As I understand, he IS eating normal food, its just the fruit part that you use purity for, right?

If that is the case, I don't see why you can't carry on with it that way. Give him pieces of apple and other fruit to knibble on but don't stress if he doesn't eat it, its just to get him used to it.

And for more variety you can use fruit yoghurt like I said before. That should be more than enough.

My son never ate fruit, then all of a sudden one day he picked up an apple at my mother in laws house and nearly finished the whole thing! And he only has 5 teeth...

vamo I suggest you do as the ladies say and that is to offer him finger foods from your regular meals. I am not sure why you can't offer spicy food though. Dylan eats curry and what we eat regardless of spices. Spices are good for you!

Maybe introduce regular food at one meal and you could add things to the purity. The fruit purity doesn't contain enough protein so it is really important to give other foods. try baked beans or add cheese etc.
