Good luck Paisley - unfortunately (and no doubt you have experienced it already) we are permanently feeling guilty about our decisions.

thanx girls! I feel so much better about my decision now. And that is what this forum is for!

Great advice marijke!

Ohhhh RM the subliminal, but sometimes blatant advertising is the main culprit in my feeling this way - and of course the notice on the formula "BREASTFEEDING IS BEST FOR BABY"...

You guys have given me the courage to drop my baby off at school with 3 bottles filled with purified, boiled water and 3 stacked cups of formula - With my HEAD held HIGH! ;).

Oh how we complicate our lives!

pais

I also breasfed until 5 months and went back to work, I could express at work, but at a time it took up to 45 min a time 3 times a day to get enough milk for W, so I stopped expressing
But i still fed him in the morning and evening and over weekends
And my boobs was not sore on a Monday.

Your body gets used to it, and I breastfed until 17 months, that is when W decided to self wean.

Good luck and I know that you can do it, you are such a great mom

Paisley - I also breastfed in the mornings, and evenings and on weekends when I went back to work.

<there was no where I could express, short of going to sit in my car in our employee parking lot>

I kept it up until my daughter felt she no longer wanted to breastfeed,k and for me it was fine. (however different moms and babes adjust differently to when they are being dual fed)

I do quite like Marijke's advise: Paisley, do what works for you and lie to those who will judge you!

Just a side bar: I do think there is a huge amount of emphasis put on breast feeding = healthy babies, formula = not healthy babies.

And you have said it here yourself:

...like i am choosing my own convenience over my baby's health.

I think that is the issue that will drag you down - formula does not mean your child is not going to be healthy, and possibly this subliminal message that you are feeding yourself is adding to your feelings about the issue.

paisley dont feel bad - you have done great already

I went back to work when my daughter was 4 months old - I breastfed exclusively up until then. I would then breastfeed her when we got home (15:00) and again before bed during the week. On weekends I breastfed exclusively all day. I did this until she was a year old. My body adapted I suppose. I also made sure I ate well and got lots of rest which maybe helped?

I cant say if you can or not because we are all different but why not try... Dont give up fully yet - maybe just try. Thats what I did and it ended up working!

FYI You are a great mom!
