Hi

You are right ... sleeping through is a myth I never had it with my twin boys and Mathew is the same .. his tummy is full, bum dry and he is comfy with dummy but will still wake for "something" and going to bed earlier oh yes that does help you get through the following day especially if you are working :)

Howdie ...

MAthews eating plan or routine is very much the same as yourse .. difference is he does not have milk feed 10/11 he has a snack and juice and has bottle around 14h00 - 14h30 and full protein meal with iron supplement around dinner time .. think he was going through a growth spurt :)

My LG is 8 months old now and went through a MAJOR eat all you can find spurt about a week ago, and it lasted for a week. She picked up lots of weight, screamed for bottles in the middle of the night (usually she doesn't have a night feed, only dummy runs) and ate like the world was coming to an end. Then after a week it all went back to normal. My friend has a LG the same age who also went through a eating frenzy for a week at about the same time, so maybe its just a normal growth spurt.

My LG is teething this week (first tooth) and now eating less, so maybe her body was building up some extra reserves for the hard times ahead. Who knows? As long as they are healthy and not obviously over weight, I'm happy.

At about 9 months we dropped the mid morning milk and replaced it with a snack, usually yogurt and / or fruit and water.
With each meal we give water to sip on.
She is now 11 months and we still give her milk on waking, a mid afternoon bottle around 2 or 3pm, and a bottle at bed time (150-200mls)
She also has 3 meals a day and snacks in between.
And yet she still wakes around 11pm for milk (breastfed) and then sometimes around 3 for a comfort feed.
Sleeping through is a myth in my opinion. But as long as they just wake to drink and then go back to sleep then I'm happy. But currently K sleeps very restlessly sometimes and only settles in our bed, so it has been a challenging few months. I'd say the last 5 months have been harder than the 1st 6 as far as sleeping at night goes.
Just a process I guess and they are learning so much at this stage thatthey do tend to go through feeding / sleeping issues at night as well as separation anxiety around 9 months so there's plenty reason for them not to be sleeping through without it being 'wrong'.
I have to force myself to go to bed earlier so that it doesnt affect me as badly, and I take turns with DH that we share the load and maximise our sleep.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Ditto on what 1st timer said. 3 solid meals a day are perfect. You can also start introducing snacks, especially if he doesn't have a mid morning milk feed. Routine for my LG at 8 months looked like

wake up: 200ml milk
breakfast (cereal or sandwich and fruit)
10/11 am: small milk feed
lunch
afternoon milk feed
supper
200 ml milk at bed time

This should fill them up enough to not require any more night feeds. It's very important they get plenty nutrients from solid food and no longer just milk at that age, especially protein.
