I cooked up my first batch of rice milk last night, following the recipe on that link you posted Gloei. It made a bit over 2L! I don't think I added quite enough water though so I've just been adding a bit extra water to his bottles so it might have very easily made at least 2.5L if I include a bit extra water.

So far logan seems happy to drink it. I find it a little slimy. I could say it's nice and creamy but I think slimy would be closer to the truth lol. not sure why that is. Probably cos it's not diluted enough.

I ground up a tablespoon of flax seeds and added that, and about 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, a little bit of hemp protein powder and some honey. And then twice a day I add about 1/4 teaspoon of Barley grass to his bottle of milk as well. So it's really fortified rice milk :D

Thanks for all the ideas.

Will let you know once i've tried the rice milk. So far he's usually quite happy to drink rice milk, it was just getting far too expensive buying it.

I think you will have to experiment a bit to find something that might work...
Here was another site with various options. But lets be frank about this: none of this tastes like milk!! It is some watery substance that is flavored with something!

www.organicauthority.com/eco-chic-table/...non-dairy-milks.html

I personally find that the oat milk tastes better than the soy and rice milk from woolies, that is what we buy for now. But, still... yuck! I sometimes mix it with turbokidz shake for a bit of a "treat" like the closest thing to a milk shake! Shame, poor child.

I have started to use "coconut oil" instead of butter in certain recipes which calls for small amounts of butter with great success. I always have a variety of ice lolly pops in the fridge that is dairy free. I make a good one with banana and coconut milk and peanut butter/almond butter - it is really good!

Hope you find something that works for you! I know how painful it is to cut out something like dairy for a child. Really heart breaking.

Thanks. I won't make the almond milk again. I made it before for 5 days and he was so so so miserable it's definitely not worth it. He doesn't seem to like the coconut flavour I think. And just plain almond milk (only almonds, no coconut or anythign else) it sooooo watery it's really gross.

Will have a google about making rice milk though.

I did add a bit of xylitol (great health benifits, especially for teeth) to sweeten it slightly! I think I also added a drop of vanilla??

It stayed fresh for about 5 days I think?
