file Working Moms - how long did you express for

Huggles, one of my friends use the double pump and it is amazing but very expensive. I know a lady who has a double pump who wants to sell it here for cheaper, so let me know then I can maybe give you her number.

However, my other friend who uses the Avent manual pump tried the double pump and said the Avent one pumped faster and more. I think of you can get the "hang" of the Avent manual, it is probably the fastest and the quietest.

Elaine, how do you find the Medela Mini electric double pump? Is it quiet? Is it fairly quick?

I was looking at the Medela Pump In Style advance but just found out it costs R4000 so there goes that idea out the window! But i liked the idea of the fact that it's a double pump cos i reckon it would go faster then.

Please tell me how you find hte mini electric double pump (as much detail as possible). I'm really confused as to which pump to go for.

I had to go back to work when Ashlee was 11 weeks old. I managed to express enough milk for her for the 1st month, and then had to start supplementing with formula while she is at daycare.

I find the amount of milk I get differs from day to day. Some days I express about 400mls and other days not more that 200. I used to worry a lot about the amount of milk I get but now that i know there is formula for her if I am more relaxed about it.

I try and only breastfeed at home in the evenings but sometimes Ashlee will cry after a feeding because she is still hungry and I will give her a bottle of formula.

I find it helps to breastfeed as much as possible on the weekends, because then I have more milk the next week.

I use the Medela mini electric double pump.

Huggles, I have the Medela Mini Electric but it takes long to express. I have heard great things about the Avent manual pump but couldn't manage it myself. Will try again with my next baby. I am fortunate that I can come home during the day to feed my LG.

I am using the Avent manual pump, tried an electric one and I personally preferred controlling my own suction. At the moment I have just increased how much I express cos my son is a little piggie so I am doing 2 bottles of 260 mls which take me about 15 minutes each, one at 10:30 and another at 1:30 ish and the 1 small one of 120 ml's at about 4ish. I feed him twice before I come to work and when I get home just after 5 he attacks me for more! ;) and then another feed just before bed at 7:30ish. I am starting him on solids at 5 months I think. Hope this helps?

Jems, how long does it take to express? I know you answered me in another thread about how often you express (3 times a day) and how much at each time, but roughly how long does it take each time? Also, what type of breast pump do you use? (most people i know have the Avent Electric but i'm now considering the Medela - just wondering which is best).
