It works great for milk production, but if you are experiencing issues then rather refer yourself to a psyciatrist and have them prescribe something.

I love my GYNE and trust him totally ... with my vagina and uterus .... but anything above the shoulders I like to be referred to a guy who works a bit more in that area.

I also took Espiride after Erin's birth to help with the milk supply.

I found it made me ravenous and as result I gained weight. Not exactly what I wanted after giving birth. I also found that it didn't help me thaaaat much and found that the homeopathic tablets, fenugreek, helped my supply MUCH more than Espiride. I suppose this might differ from person to person?

Also, I didn't know I was supposed to wean myself off it (I vaguely recalled my doc telling me to call him when I'm ready to stop but everything was pretty much a haze at the time). So I just stopped cold turkey and went into what I called "crazy mommy" time. My emotions were all over the show and I found I wanted to cry ALL the time. But it was over within a couple of weeks, thankfully.

When My milk was low I also boosted with Fenugreek... what a lifesaver!

Also it is classed as an anti-anxiety drug and if there isn't a more anxious time in a Womans life then I don't know.. True PND which is diagnosed should definately be treated by a professional with the use of more efficient medication. My Doctor prescribed the eglynol as a two fold solution. If the need arrised for a stronger alternative he would have been the first to action that.

Eglonyl - just a note, often moms think that Eglonyl will assist with depression or baby blues.

The medicine is used to treat schizophrenia and depression, but it really does not do much for suffers of depression - this would not be your go to drug of choice.

Eglonyl can be used to booster milk production in lactating women, due to its prolactin stimulating side effect, and that is why OBGYNs prescribe it so easily.

However if you feel you are struggling to "keep it together" I really would suggest an appointment with a psyciatrist who can prescribe something that is better suited to any depression issues and can be used safely during breast feeding too.

Thanks Reluctant Mom. This is what my Gyne saw fit to prescribe for me given my previous history. It did work well for me for the Blues and PND issues as well as the Milk volumes and I suppose it just depends from person to person.

Ok, thanks.

Nope, I'm just taking it for the milk booster because I've got a little guzzle guts ;)

She's cute though, so she gets away with it :)

Thankfully I didn't have PND or anything like that with either of my girls. I do have moments where I doubt my ability as a mother and whether I'm doing enough for my girls, but I suppose everyone has those moments at some stage.
