I can not agree more! I struggled so much with the two when I had PND (I thought I something was wrong, could not bond with baby and felt all the joy of parenthood was taken away from me)Once I was on the right meds, everything fell in place and I loved my two babies! I can handle the rough days and just fell head over heals in love with them from the start!

I know if I did not get the proper meds and help, I would have done more harm to my children than good. Now we are a happy and stable family and I entourage any one struggling with any form of depression to go and seek help. Tell people how you are feeling - it happens to so many moms and is nothing to be shy about...

Take care of you and your family first :P

I have a letter from my pdoc to say I am insane, so tread lightly with me, some days I can be a total bitch. I'm lying. Most days I am a total bitch.

Rather a happy medicated mommy than a depressed one.

Mom of Dylan and Partner to Joerg. We live in the Beautiful Pringle Bay which is along the Whale coast, Cape.

There are so many anti-depressants that you can take pregnant and breastfeeding.

I totally understand choosing to go off all meds
when you are doing either, but moms who are at high risk of developing depression or PND often put themselves and their babies in harms way by choosing to not go on something.

I hope at least one mom reads this thread who is struggling and decides to get some medication help to get her over or through the rough parts.

There really is no reason to suffer or soldier through it.

I used Eglonyl for PND - however, it really did not work and my PND spiraled into a even deeper pit... I refused to take anything else while breast feeding - however, in a strange twist of fate I landed in hospital with a kidney stone and had to go for an operation. So I had to stop breastfeeding and stopped my Eglonyl at the same time. Stronger anti-depressants followed and I am feeling great.

As far as side effect go ... well, I was on so many different meds that I can not really say?
