Makat, i just accepted that, otherwise there would have been serious issues.
and will also take the next one as it comes. in the end our relationship is more impotant to me than to fight. - i am really not a confrontational person.

my father-in-law is also Gerhard. most of the men in their family is called Theuns, so i asked that if he is so set on having family names then he has to accomodate me a bit, because i don't want to call him Theuns and my hubby is already Nico and i don't want 2 of the same names in 1 house.

so i am really happy that we are calling him Gerhard. and so happy that hubby understood my point of view as well. so in the end everyone is happy and the grandad is over the moon

Stellak awww moeder man, baby looks so clear.... As for Makatk I'm not being fooled that she didn't know what that is! Then she still comments about his foot And I think family names just make it easier to choose boy names because trust me they are difficult.

@Stella i had already called him Gerhard before i read the last sentence, its a popular nice names. It's okay, sometimes we have to bend a little to accommodate our spouses cultures, dreams and wishes. I hope you get your way around with the next baby. For the sake of peace let him win this time.

Makat, unfortunately i'm stuck with a very conservative traditional hubby (i love him to bits anyway) so this boy will have family names.
we had alot of serious converstions about it as i am not keen on family names. so in the end we agreed on one boy to have family names. but i am very certain that if the next one is also a boy it will be the same story all over again.
i just put my foot down, and if its a girl there will be no family names.

so our boy will be Theunis Gerhardus Nicolaas.
and we will call him Gerhard
