I forgot to attached a belly PIC. I am 17 weeks today.

Hello Ladies.



I am finally back and I am feeling mostly myself again. I finished my anti biotics on the weekend. thought I was going to feel horrible for the rest of my pregnancy. this is going to be a long post because I had catch up I started syping this yesterday morning and I am only able to finish now because I had to catch up on work also :0).


I haven't picked up much weight compared to when I was pregnant with my daughter. I actually haven't weighed myself in forever but switching to the gynea on the 24th July so I will probably weigh myself every time I go. I am still fitting into my skinny hipster jeans. I think all the weight has gone to my tummy but it feels like I am carrying lower than I was with my daughter.

I am feeling movements, little pops and turning mostly around my bikini line. I do feel big moving sometimes like baby is turning right over and it feels different than with my daughter, maybe because baby is pressing on some scar tissue?



So my daughter woke up with pink eye on Saturday morning so I brought a big thing of waterless hand cleanser so every time I touch her face I use it and I even do her hands :0). I think she also has a sore throat. she isn't eating or drinking much. My poor little girl, I think her immune system is really down from being sick. the doc gave her thin anti biotics that's just a bit thicker than cough meds and doesn't have bits in which I manage to hide in her bottle but now she isn't finishing her bottle but I suppose its better than nothing.



@ Zaza - If you carry in your bum, they say that's a boy :0). Be careful with the decaf, my midwife told me with my first pregnancy that she preferred me to drink caffeine because of all the chemicals in the decaf to get rid of the caffeine. I think the second pregnancy you more relaxed depending on the age difference between your children. You should have the basic setup already and the big things and then you also have meds, toiletries, etc so its not like you have to start from scratch :0). I am also more relaxed with this one. Very cute bump pic.

Those kicks can really catch you off guard sometimes. My daughter used to kick me in my cervix and then also a few times in my bum because she was breach. I also used to be walking and the next second my leg would go completely numb for a few seconds, thankfully I never fell.



@lashy - My company pays 40% and then the rest from UIF. I got most of my salary the last time so I am happy. Before we brought a house in Boksburg we were renting in Fairland which is right next door to Weltevreden park. Both areas are very nice. Three cots are awesome, you very lucky. Do they all have mattresses? Its always nice to have spare for travelling or to keep at a friend or family house so you don't have to pack up yours all the time.



@Happi - My daughter is in crèche still so I don't have to worry about the school holidays for a few more yearsbut by that time we looking to have a sleep in nanny like we used to have growing up which really helped. Im sorry to hear that you weren't well but at least you can get better now.



@zee - Thanks - Its one of those pics to show at their 21st one day. Girls are fun. My daughter does all kinds of cute funnt things and she loves being involved and helping me around the house where she can. She took the scrubbing brush and started going after the dogs thinking it was a hairbrush but they all ran away except she caught my old man and he just froze and gave me a help me look! You lucky with full pay, my bonus usually comes around the 15 December so that will help. I am so sorry to hear about your granny. I hope the traveling and everything went well. I will hold thumbs for your home loan, if its ment to be it will be .



@Carmy - You are lucky to have been one of the test subjects for the 4D. Such a cute bump and precious pics. I think I might see a thingy also but it could also be the umbilical cord.



@Nisha - A month will be difficult being away from your husband but just think of the benefits :0). Its hard being away from family, my family are all in cape town, been in joburg for 4 years now and its really hard so just enjoy the moments you have with them. Its also easier for your husband to get familiar with the surroundings before you join him. My husband moved to joburg 2 months before me to settle and find a place before I joined which made it much easier. Try not buy too much maternity wear, rather try buy stretchy pants and tops that you can wear again and in cape town its going to be cold when you arrive so its easy just to wear tracksuits,etc. It is a bit of a challenge as you get further along and depending how big you carrying. Woolworths have nice maternity bras for when you need to buy and they cheaper than the baby shops but just try them o first because their sizing is all wrong.
Some gyneas work with a midwife, that was the case with my previous doctor. I also chose the midwife to be in the theatre with me when I had the c section and I am glad I did because she made it feel more like a birth and was helping me relax and she was the one who did the catheter, etc. She was also standing by my side and telling me what the doctors were doing and telling me not to worry if I felt a pinch here and there.
www.takealot.com/ is awesome. I order most of my nappies through them but otherwise just google baby shopping online south Africa and it will bring up a whole lot of websites for to you to look at. Just make sure they end in .co.za because otherwise you might order something from overseas and then it gets expensive.

Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. So baby wasn't moving much at my scan, baby was in a kind of a sitting, tilting back position a bit so we couldn't get the whole baby into a photo. We had a long scan trying to make baby move and we also saw the little hands and feet and bones which was really sweet. There was a moment when baby moved knees away slightly from eachother and doc said it could be a girl but the parts could also be hiding so we will have to wait for the 24th for the next scan. Doc is happy with both of us though. baby is measuring 3 days ahead again so will probably be a big baby again. I have attached the pics, you can see the little face and then on the one pic you can see the little bones of the hand close to the face and the knees. The other pic is the wave of the strong heartbeat.

For me it predicted girl funny story..I tried to make baby beanie for first time and it became a round mat sort of thing.. Nothing like a beanie at all.. My hubby got a chance to mock me..

@zaza alll the best for the scan dear.. Don't forget to share pic with us.. Till last week I felt like its my tummy.. But from this week I feel pregnant tummy.. Today its literally like my tummy is pushed out.. It's getting rounder. 18 weeks and 3 days now.. But my weight is same.. My sister said as long as baby weight is fine inside tummy..its good..don't worry abt your weight. So I'm kinda hoping my little bittoo is perfect inside. Waiting for scan to confirm it.

I'm better gonna come there and buy baby stuffs..so no shopping here..

Today is so lazy day for me. Just cooking n a nap.. No walk today. Skipped it

It predicted a boy and the previous one a girl which is accurate..

I just got back from lunch... My old faithful never lets me down... Lol... Nandos..

Oh Happi my next scan at 20 weeks is next Wednesday, 15 July, hubby won't be able to make it he told me if I find out the gender he does not want to know, cause he is disappointed he wanted to be present when the gender or if the baby shows us the gender, lol. August sounds so far away for you. Do you know when are you allowed to book your bed at your hospital? Our hospital said anytime after 26 weeks I can come for a tour and do the pre-admission and book the bed. At Netcare you get that bag with samples, etc and the free 4d scan.

I also bought my multivitamins at Dischem and they said I will get a bag from them around 30 weeks or so, not sure if anyone else did this with Dischem.

@Lashy well I tried your link and according to the Chinese gender calendar, this baby is going to be a boy.....................I tested it against when my daughter was conceived and showed it would have been a girl so it got my first born correct, if I find out at the next scan the gender of this baby, we can judge how accurate again. What did yours reveal?

Lashy, have you tried ginger biscuits? for the MS, I hear it helps to some extent, if you have a persistent cough try Prospan (baby cough syrup), safe for pregnancy and helps, or just good old fashion honey, half a teaspoon or less eases the throat and prevent the cough, coughing is bad when pregnant, it moves our diaphragm a lot which can cause contractions if the cough is too frequent. Shame I hope you feel better soon.....there is a lot of strange flu like things going around I keep hand sanitizer with me and use it for me and my daughter and i'm trying to teach her to wash her hands often so we don't pick up too much bugs but not everything is preventable.

@Happi did you try the Chinese gender prediction? What did your says. lol oh heartburn, as soon as my nausea stopped it was replaced with heart burn, I have gaviscon in the car, in the house and my handbag at this point, but drinking milk has helped as well, besides baby needs the extra calcium.

@Nisha I am well and glad your Visa is sorted and you will be in SA soon, Happi gave you a very good suggestion, you must try and book a SA gynae soon as they get booked very quickly here, in SA there are loads of shops for baby goodies with everything, you won't even need to go online, you will be overwhelmed by the amount of things they have now for babies and pregnant mama's. And I'm sure your SA friends and hubby will throw you a baby shower, as you get to know more people in SA.


Howz everyone's bump's looking? I have read by 20 weeks your uterus is at your belly button hence the rounder bump. Also an interesting concept when you have your 20 week scan, it is the one scan that is the most accurate in determining your EDD, would be nice to compare the 20 week EDD to the original one given.

I have felt baby noon moving but very low, like almost where my old Caesar scar is, I have read that this is common in the second pregnancy and also cause the uterus only rises after 20 weeks, has anyone else felt this?

@nisha.... lovely news yo visa came out, now all the preps to come this side. Have yu decided on the gynae, if so, try make an appointment early, coz mostly you have to wait like a month before there is a spot 4 the gynae to see yu.

@ Lashy, wat was the results 4 yu, it would be nice to see if its true when you see the gender. When are you ladies going next for your app, mine is on the 1st of aug at 23 weeks I think.
