Hi girls. Well, l am in bed with a fever of almost 39, was 39 whole night. N and l both have throat infection. Sore body, am cold but boiling.

I take a fever seriously but always use suppository for N. Don't want to experience a fever fit. Apparently it can lead to brain damage?

I was just googling it and it says something about it being a old wives tale. It also says something like starve a fever and feed a cold and it comes down to when a child has a fever, they dont eat and when they have a cold, we give them extra solids and liquids to make them feel better, so another old wives tale.

Justine, No dont know about the fever feeding thing..but sure makes for some interesting reading.
I got some Veggy Fructose from the Health Shop and like to use that instead of Sugar.
Regarding the Organic Tea, I also Buy the Purity but Amber dont like tea that much.

Cinds, I think if they have very high Fever, something is very wrong, or they are very sick! So time for the Dr or Hospital anyways! But ya I tend to freak out even if her Temp is 38ºC.
I think that is why the old people believe in Sweating it out??

Sumayad, just put sugar in to make it sweet. I dont add milk at all, he wont drink it like that. You get nice flavoured teas like strawberry etc in the purity range. I think maybe Z doesnt want to drink it anymore because it is bitter?

Cinds, thats what confuses me about fevers. I also thought that they can get fever fits and I know they can hallucinate if too high but for me thats dangerous and I would think you would also need to take them to the doctor if it gets to that stage. Another thing my mom told me but I dont know if there is any truth to it. When they have high fever and dont want to eat and drink, we shouldnt worry because a fever feeds them. Does anyone know if this is true?

I dont know the name Sumaya. But i'll let u know tomorrow. Maybe put some brown sugar in then he'll drink it. J drinks black tea only, i dont put in any milk but i dont think she'll drink it without sugar!

Lonie i think so too, i think she was fighting the cold that hubby gave her cause he was sick with the flu on friday, thats exactly what the paed told me about the fevers. WHat was weird was that the dr told us if a child gets a fever and its too high he/she can go into a fit but its not harmful, that worried me a bit, cause are u not supposed to take them to a dr if its too high?
