PCOS and GLUCOPHAGE

Ladies...

Sorry to just butt in, but like you all, I too have PCOS. I have just recently been to my FS who has confirmed a mild caseof PCOS so fx that it doesn't hamper my ability for BFP too much! He did loads of bloods, and we will be seeing him soon again... in the next two weeks.

re: Glucophage... I was on it for 6 month intervals for 3 - 4 times, and I didn't see any improvement. My take is that the Glucophage assists with insulin resistance. It does help with the PCOS in that ite should decrease the size of the cysts, but I am sure it takes a long time for it to have that effect.

I didn't really follow through with the Glucophage cos it wasn't working fast enough for me, in that I wanted a BFP! however, I am more calm now, lol, and FS says that he will more than likely put me on Glucophage as well asa fertility pill.... so will wait and see.

Nadia, are you on Glucophage at the moment?

Last year i was on Fertomid, also stopped using it because of weight gain, and in the month i stopped using it i found out i was preggies.

We found out this weekend that I am pregnant for 2 months we didn't use any fertility medication.

Miracles still do happen

Nothing can stand in your way to having a baby, not even PCOS.. all glory to God. There is hope.

O I agree Ruby. Everything is in God's hands. I firmly believe God made special doctors with special talents to help people like us. And at the end of the day He will make it happen coz He knows our desires.

I am with Dr Naidu at Kingsway in Toti. Never had so much peace of mind like we do with him. We travel from Richards Bay so we make a day of it. We saw him last January and fell pregnant in Feb. After two yrs of struggling and loads of tears. So we want to try again this yr so will most probably see him again soon. But trying to shed some weight before then.

when you going for the ovarian drilling? Obviously in theatre?

Chanz - thanks. I am with Dr Pentz and he is one of the best. We have gone to many lengths to get pregnant and this is the next step. I still believe everything is in God's hands, the doc is just the 'middleman'. Who is your FS?

I agree with Nadia, you can take the SR from the start. Usually the gynaes/FS put you on the normal one and if you complain of side effects then they change. But I am sure if you ask for the SR then they wont mind. It does the same thing as the regular one except on a slower release.

Ruby, goodluck with your ovarian drilling I know they usually do that as a last resort before going to IVF. My FS said that if diet, excercise and hormone treatment didnt work that he would then only do the ovarian drilling. Due to the risks involved. Its important that a very good specialist does it, because you can lose your ovaries if its done wrong.
But like anything in life, there are always risks. What works for one might not work for everyone and visa versa.

PCOS is a pain in the backside. I am currently struggling to lose weight. Has anyone tried something that works?
