Welcome Mommy N and good luck B) . LOL @ giving poor Grandpa the blame :silly: .

Gloeiwurmpie, I have to agree with you on the phases thing. At this stage I keep on telling myself that Alexander's new habbit of throwing and hitting things when I say something that is anything like a scold (even if it's not), is just a phase. The anger he displays blows me away (in a bad way). I don't know where it comes from. I will say something like "don't hang on the curtain when you are on the window sill, because it might come off and you will get hurt" (in a very neutral voice), and he will explode. Throwing and hitting things, his whole body one angry "ball" ready to bounce off the walls. So ya, that is my 3 year old story :P .

Lol Rakker - I'll never roast a chicken and not giggle!

Pass the blame... yip... we're there ... "Grandpa (from the CBEebies show) was in the car and did it..." well that had me sighing and shaking my head! My poor LB gets the blame shifted to him for everything!

We're not even a month into the three's and I recognise all the posts!

I just felt that I needed to update this.

I made such a hoo-haa about how difficult 3 year olds can be. When I look back at the past few months (she is now almost 3,5 years) I have to say that it was defnitely a phase she went through. She was nearly impossible for about a month or 2 after she joined the new nursery school. But eversince things have really been much easier for us. We still have days with tantrums (especially if overtired or feeling sick or hungry) but a lot less. The fact that they can talk more makes things much easier since you can reason with them.

Therefore if I gave any moms out there sleepless nights about fearing the day that their child turns 3, relax. It seems as if everything always comes in phases. There are difficult times and then easier times, at least for us.

Rakker, ha ha ha hahah ha ha ha you are funny!!

I think we are all going to need a support group of some sort very soon...

You are so right about those precious moments too. It really is as if they are at 2 extremes, either super adorable or super frustrating!

Momtoc,
And yes, I couldn't agree with you more on the rat race we are living and yes, we defnitely don't have the time that these special 3 year olds need and deserve.

Ps: I have level 10 respect for any mom with a 3 year old and a younger second child!!

GW, jip, you better hide those car keys
They definitely do test their boundaries & want to know everything. So, you sit there & get asked 100's of questions & then some more questions on those questions
They want to voice their opinions & they want a say.....
Sorry about the kick in the face, damn that must've hurt. I know they say that that's how the express themselves cause they don't know how to deal with all the emotions & how to tell you what they feel so they show you...................physically :woohoo: but damn, when they do things like that, it really takes eveything out of you not to smack them back LOL

Rakker, welcome to the support group. Tell us more about yourself hahahahaha
I definitely agree with you about making you laugh everyday. They do come up with the darndest things.

I think life today is way too stressful, busy, chaotic, rushing day in & day out.....I can go on & on here & we are not as relaxed as our parents & grandparents were many years back. We are constantly worrying about everything & we are not slowing down. I really do think that is why we sometimes get overwhelmed with our children & the day to day things. I can definitely relate to being like this. I was thinking the other day that we were also small & doing all the things our kids do today but we grow up & most of us lose that innerchild - sometimes we manage to find it again. I keep telling myself to relax, breathe, try to understand my daughter & just go with it. I'm luckily a playful person, so I do play with my daughter but I do sometimes wanna go bonkers when she gets her 2nd breath at night & goes absolutely crazy with screaming, running & jumping up & down the house :headbang:

Me: "Hello, my name is Rakker and I am the mom of a 3 year old".

Support group: "Helloooo Rakker". :silly:

I find that 3 year olds are masters at manipulation. You will recognise some of the following:

"I will feel better if I can have a sweet", ""My heart is sore because I cannot watch TV", "You are not my friend any more", "I don't want to live with you any more", etc.

But, with all the challenges of a 3 year old, I find this age so entertaining. I had such a laugh last night when I asked my son if it was him who farted and he told me that it wasn't him or the cat, but the chicken (I had a whole chicken in the oven at that time). And the way that his personality is really starting to show: The way he will find a way to shift the blame, just like I do... Or the way he feels sad for the boy with crutches in the one story and tell me we must get the boy some iron legs like his. Everyday he makes me laugh and then I tell myself it is worth the tantrums and manipulation.
