file kids and the common cold and homeopathy

Huggles - Glad he slept better last night!

Putting it through a sieve should work, hey? I think I will make that concoction
for myself to drink!

We are humidifier junkies here in the highveld. If we don't use it every single day my husband gets nosebleeds almost every day. We accidently discovered that the humidifier actually stopped my husbands regular nosebleeds. When we are down by the coast where it is humid, he doesn't ever have problems, so I guess it all depends where you stay.

I am still amazed that my LG is no worse compared to when I give her things like Celestamine and Bronkese coughsuryp! :woohoo:

Well last night went loads better. I raised the head of his cot by putting in on a pine plank. And he sttn!!! Only coughed once briefly at what i guessed was midnight (didn't check), and then only started his coughing fit at 6:30!

I blitzed up that veggie juice concoction in my smoothie maker. He didn't seem opposed to the taste at all, but I think the texture got him a bit as it was a bit thick/bitty due to it being the smoothie maker and not a proper juicer. I did put it through the sieve (and i added water to the mixture when making it), so he drank a little bit, but wasn't overly keen on it. Considering making another batch tonight and putting it in the coffee plunger. Wonder if that would push all the pulp to the bottom and just leave the juice on top?

His cough is much looser today and his nose was running again. The cold seems to have changed a bit. Hoping it's changing for the better.
Thinking of going to get some Natura Kofbron (Kofbron1 is for dry hacking coughs and describes how his cough started exactly, and Kofbron2 is for a wet productive cough and describes more how it is now).

Also decided to rather return the humidifier. Didn't put it on at all last night. Haven't found it helping at all and I don't think our air is all that dry to be honest. Also concerned about the potential for mould and mildew etc. Never really wanted one anyway, plus now my mom says she has found her steamer which is actually what I wanted all along so going to get that tomorrow.

Thanks Gloei!

Yup, it really is expensive. When I gritted my teeth and paid for the humidifier i just told myself i'd be saving on doctor's visits. (told myself the same thing when i paid for the essential oils which really weren't that expensive). Hopefully I'm right!

Huggles - I saw it hidden on some shelf, I had to climb past 3 wheelchairs and lots of medical equipment. I will look for it again and see if I can find a brand name so that you can ask for it by name. I "think" it was in the region of around R100 - R200?
Will check when I go this week!

When you start to add up all the costs of the vitamins, oils and supplements it is nearly an arm and leg!

Funnily enough I was at dischem on saturday looking for a vapouriser/steamer and all they could show me was the humidifier. I even explained what i needed it for. Might have a look if i'm there again at some point. I go so seldom as it's quite out the way. Have horribly overspent this month though now so will have to wait for another month. Thanks though!

Huggles, yes you are right. There is a place and time for antibiotics and other cold medicine, but they are ofter overused.

I forgot to add...I did see a device that is used for aromatherapy oils. It was an electric one, but does basically the same as the aromatherapy burners that uses a tea light candle. I saw it at dischem.
