Jan/Feb 2011 Mommies (Nov & Dec 2010 early babes)

Hi ladies.

Sorry for being so mia, but I have a terrible flu again. So I’ve been in the bed most of the weekend & yesterday. Last week I was busy baking some biscuits & rusks for our holiday. Was so tired in the evening that I didn’t have energy left to put on the computer & log in.

Well luckily I did log in yesterday afternoon & saw the news that Maryke went to have her baby’s & that Vix have been admitted to hospital. Couldn’t wait to log in this morning to see what happened over night.

Firstly: Congrats Maryke.



Secondly: Vix, thinking of you & please keep us updated.

AFM: Everything else is fine with me, just this terrible flu. My husband had leave yesterday to look after Eduan, so that I can stay in bed. And today Eduan is going to school. So I’m still going to stay in bed, I don’t want to go on holiday with this flu. My bump is growing by the minute now & Marinus is so active. Enjoy the rest of your day ladies

I am awake at this stupid hour because hospital beds are SO FREAKIN UNCOMFORTABLE! OUCH! This thing is so hard and there is a total of 1 half baked pillow. My lower back is now sore and I feel like I'm due the worldst worst period in my lower abdominal region, I miss my nice expensive mattress at home and all the billion pillows I use to sleep at night!

Wondering if I should climb into some of my hospital food I picked up this morning (luckily) didn'rt get much but some mini cheddars, ginger nut biscuits and choc eclair sweets. But I forgot the one thing I'm in the mood for Coca Cola!

Maryke- hope you're sleeping well tonight so you have the strength to go see those beautiful boys first thing. When Dr sent me for admittion this afternoon I honestly thought my tweenies had beaten yours into the world but I was so impressed as I lay with the CTG and got the sms from Chris to sday you're on your way in to hospital to have the twins!

Maryke!!!!!!! Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful precoius boys! I knew they were gonna be boys! I hope you're feeling well after the C-sec! Xxx



Sorry I'm only posting now but it's been a hectic afternoon, if only we stuck with a morning appointment maybe I would've had more time to get things done.

I'm now laying in hospital all booked in for observation and 8hrly steroid shots. Dr should be in early tomorrow to check the CTG results and decide if he needs to do the C-sec tomorrow or if we can wait it out. Either way I have to stay in hospital now until the tweenies arrive so we can be sure tweenie 2 isn't in distress.

Basically it goes like this, Tweenie 1 is doing great, he is measuring 35w3d so has grown exactly to plan, Tweenies 2 is measuring 31w2d and so has only grown 1w in size in 2.5w time which is very concerning to Dr because he is scared to send me home and find tweenie 2 stopped growing and all together stopped living. Yes more time inside would be ideal for tweenie 2 but not with his brother there to steall all the best blood supplies so he is likely to be safer on the outside even at this small age.

If you had've seen my Dr's face you would know there is just no question over his actions. I swear to you I wanted to pour him a whiskey he looked white as a ghost. I think he is scared he makes the wrong decision to send me home again and something goes wrong.

Me on the other hand, I'm pretty chilled about it all, no use in stressing but also I had prepared myself for the fact that I would always be having 2 different size babies, maybe not so early but I'm a realist and I read up on all the dangers and complications of having twins so I'm not really scared.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiit! Just had the steriod jab and it burns! Bugger that stuff is EINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'm a big whimp! LOL Think I forgot how freakin sore a C-sec is! Gonna be in for a shock soon enough!

Christopher went off to his Gran's without a single tear, slept the whole journey (2.5hrs) and is apparently now awake running around the house causing havoc! My folks are in for a real shock this week!

Luckily I managed to wangle a private room! Woooooooo hooooooo I hate making small talk with other preggy moms LOL Besides, might be a bit heartsore to watch other moms hold and feed their babies if mine are in NICU.

Elwyn looks pretty stressed out, I think it must be very hard for him to send his son away and have his wife lay in hospital. But otherwise he's holding up well, he was also prepared for the possibility of prem babies.

I was gutted, I left all the grocery shopping until this week because I was too tired on Sunday and now I sit without it done. Elwyn can get food stuffs etc but I wanted to get some joggers from PEP just to wear the first week after the C but I'll survive with the ones I have.

The babies are on the CTG, they have a special one for twins. Both heart rates are looking good this evening, Jonathans was very erratic this afternoon but now it's pretty steady and not far off Alexanders.

Sorry really crappy, this message was all about me. Will catch up with everyone else in a bit, just tired of typing on the BB for now. Should probably get some sleep but hospital beds are so un comfy! My back kills already!

Wow, thanks Chris for the updates on Maryke, didn't know Vix was also admitted, that piece of "private" post didn't show in my inbox.
So glad Maryke and babies/BOYS are fine!!! Such great news!!

Girls my gums were fine, it was the right side of my face, then Saturday Night the left side started getting real sore. I've google'd
today "sinus infection" - symptoms...well and sore face and cheeckbones/gums were one of them so that explained this pain i'm having.
Was so bad this morning at 2, i went to baba's room to sleep (and cry) so that i don't wake DH.
I've tried to inhale (not sure how to explain...but like inhale trough the nose) some salt water and then steamed my face a few times today...i'm better than this morning. But i'm still not fine. Suffered at work today.
Panando's ain't working, but i hope to feel better tomorrow. Seeing my gynae @ Wed. Maybe he can give me a sinus/antibiotic injection if i'm not better. Can't afford to go twice to dr in one week - medical aid is over and done with for this year.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, Chris this is getting scary, can't believe the tweenies are before the Trio's. Your doing great!!

Chris, Im happy your little beans are still snug and warm inside I know its hard but every week makes a huge difference so if you can last up to 36wks it will be so much better! I hope they are kind on you

MommyN, ah meant to say dont worry about the magazine.. they sent me one in the post hehe.. can you believe that the day after I got my copy we went to Woodlands again and the same lady who took the photographs came up to us again.. I just told her it would be funny to do it again and she laughed and agreed! But my hubby is sooo chuffed that we are in the magazine and keeps asking me if I put it away so it wont get lost For sure Im up for coffee next week!!! I can do either Monday or Thursday, just let me know what day suits you.

The internal is a bit uncomfortable but not really *sore* But my gynae did a stretch and sweep and that I can def say is eina!!! And mine also only does internals if she is worried or at your 38/39wk appointment.

Funny you mention this... I was about to comment that I also havent got that line again?!! My first line took about 9 months to go away!

Wow. You guys know what they say about preggie dreams? I dreamt of Maryke the whole of last night. I kept on hearing her name in my head. I then told myself, today is the day for Maryke. Those 2 will be born today. So I kept watching this thread and was actually disappointed that my dream didn't come true... Or so I thought .

Big congrats Maryke!!! Their sister is going to be so chuffed with her brothers.

Congratulations Maryke. Wow, twin boys.

Vix. Strongs for you! Your babas will be fine! Thinking of you, and will keep my eyes on the forum.
Ps. Having a baby in nicu is not fun, I know out of personal experience. My daughter was born at 35w, and she was in nicu for just under 2w. But know, there are people taking the bestest care of your babas.
