Des Des - shoo, quite an experience. It is good that moms can also get a balance view of c-sections and some times (like vaginal birth) they do not always go to plan.

I am sorry you had to suffer as much as you had to - wow, I am sure you are still a bit gun shy.

How did you cope with your new baby while all of this was going on?

I have a letter from my pdoc to say I am insane, so tread lightly with me, some days I can be a total bitch. I'm lying. Most days I am a total bitch.

I abhor smiley face icons. Just saying.

Hi ladies,

I have been out of action for a while. I hope everyone is fine. Did any of you have complications after haveing a caesar?

I had a caesarean 6 months ago as my birth was not progressing. For 4 months I had terrible pain on the right side of the caesar. My gaenae kept telling me its nothing to worry about, it will get better as it heals. As the pain was not getting better, He suspected nerve entrapment and send me to a surgeon for further assessment.

The surgeon did some tests, gave me medication and hoped it got better. It did not get any better and we ended up in theater to explore the wound and repair. He found a hernia, cut some tissue and redid the ceasar wound as well.
The left side of the wound started paining me while I was still in hospital. They could not figure out why as they had only cut deeper on the right side but said it was probably nothing much.

The pain was excruciating! This was worse than when I gave birth. I was crying hard as I climbed the stairs to my home. After two days, It was so unbearable we called the surgeon at mid night and he prescribed different painkillers as non of the post surgery painkillers were not working.

The next day we went to his rooms and he removed the draining tube and figured it could have been resting next to a nerve. Tada, the pain stopped! Yippee, we were excited.

The very next day, pain started on the right side and it started swelling, hardening and oozed . The surgeon said the wound seemed to be healing well. Something did not feel right. I knew everything was not fine. The pain was worse than the worst labour I could think of. I felt like I was being cut alive! One night , it got so bad, I was literally pulling my hair out punching cupboards and screaming because it got so bad I did not know what to do. It was the worst. My partner drove me to the ER at 2am. He thought I was gonna die. I did not think I was gonna make it either.

My BP was 178/101! The painkillers they gave me lasted less than an hour and they could not give me more and gave me a sleeping pill so I could sleep and not feel the pain. Xrays and saunar later, they found I the wound had an abcess and I had to go to theater to drain it and clean it. I stayed in hospital with an open wound for a week while a machine drained it.
My BP was still high. At 1 point it was 183/113. They decided to close it as the machine was also taking longer to close the wound. They stitched me the old fashioned way (fish lane ans staples) in case I was reacting to the catgut ( the 1 that dissolves).

My BP dropped and I was discharged. I felt better even when I was being discharged. Its been two weeks since I was discharged, a week since my stitches have been removed. I feel much better, albeit with a little pain but nothing hectic.

Yes, I want a second baby but after this ordeal I am a bit scared. On the flip side, me and my partner have never been this close.

Sorry for the long story.
